Book Description

Mildly sensual, Some profanity, historical, 65,000 words. Hope Montoya knows someone is poisoning her, but who? She suspects her mother was also poisoned and knows her father was murdered. Who wants her family eliminated? She vows to fight! She realizes she won’t last the eight months until she turns twenty-five and her uncle no longer controls her or her estate. Never will she be dominated by a man as she was by her father, as she has seen her mother and grandmothers dominated. If she marries, she gains control now, but only if she weds a man she can trust. Only one man meets her requirements. Can she trust him to protect her and capture the killer...but then to leave?

Micah Stone has been in love with Hope since the first time he saw her. But he was accused of her father’s murder and surely would have hung if not for his two brothers’ aid. Most in the community still believe him guilty. But the drought has him too worried about water for his dying cattle to care about his neighbors’ opinions. When Hope proposes a paper marriage in exchange for land on the Brazos River and much needed cash, her offer rubs his pride raw. His name may be Stone, but he’s not made of it. He can’t refuse her for long, and so their adventure begins.

About the Author

As long as I can remember, I've made up adventures. I admit the early creative stories featured me riding the range with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and saving the West. What a disappointment to learn that Roy was exclusively committed to Dale! Eventually, my best friend from across the street and I decided to become better detectives than Nancy Drew. We drove our parents and neighbors crazy sticking our pert little noses where they didn't belong. About that time I started writing down my adventures, but mostly I was a reader. Not until I read Nora Roberts' early novels did I decide to create my own romance manuscripts. My road to publishing was a lot slower than Nora's was. No surprise there! I still read Nora's books—as well as those of countless other authors—but now I write full time. Unless life interferes, that is. My Hero and I live one a small acreage in the ranching and horse country of North Central Texas. Finally, my childhood dream has come true and I’m in the midst of cowboys. Our two daughters are grown and in their own homes not far away. Living with Hero and me now are Webster, our sweet black Shih Tzu, and our two shorthaired cats: Sebastian, a large black and white tuxedo who thinks he's our watchcat; and Bailey Erin, a shy apricot tabby who mostly stays in my office. When I'm not writing, I love spending time with family, reading, traveling with Hero, browsing antique malls and estate sales, and digging into family history and genealogy. Writing about strong heroes and heroines who overcome amazing obstacles to forge a meaningful life together is my passion. I love to hear from readers at caroline @ carolineclemmons (dot) com. 5.0 out of 5 stars Brazos Bride March 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Hope Montoya decides on a marriage of convience rather than death. Who does she chose? The man once accused of murdering her father! Convinced she's being poisoned in her own home, Hope seeks shelter and protection from a man she was once attracted to before her father's death. Why does she go to Micah? What is there about him that gives her hope and makes her feel secure? It's honor, bravery and a bit of danger. Him having two hunky brothers doesn't hurt either.

The question is...once Micah moves in to protect Hope, how long can they deny the feeling they have for each other?

I absolutely love Caroline's books. Each is a story I can't forget. I'm so glad I read this story. I loved it and couldn't put it down until I finished. We all want more!

This is another keeper!

Another Caroline Clemmons hit. A wonderful story, memorable characters, and a great read. I won't repeat the story line here, because previous reviewers have. All I will say is, go get this book. You'll be happy you did.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better, good basic plot May 22, 2012

The plot of this book was well thought out and although there were lots of characters throughout I had no trouble keeping everyone straight (that's a big deal since many authors leave characters hanging all over the place). I enjoyed the basic writing style. I felt the book could have gone in several directions at the end which could have added to the suspense and made for a longer more developed novel. I am glad I read it and felt it was fun and worth my time.

I'm not usually into what I think of as "romance novels" but this was a freeby, so I ordered it, read it immediately and loved it.

More About the Author

As long as I can remember, I've created adventures. Sure, the early ones involved me saving the West with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Then I moved on to Nancy Drew and making up my own detective stories. Alas, I was not fated to be a private investigator--unless it's to discover who left the milk carton on the kitchen counter. Although I'm still a voracious reader, I love writing romances. Some sweet, some sensual; sometimes contemporary, sometimes historical, sometimes a time travel that mixes the two. As long as I'm at my computer, I'm a happy girl.

I live in North Central Texas with my Hero and our menagerie of rescued pets. When I'm not writing or reading, I love spending time with family, traveling with Hero, browsing antique malls, and delving into family history.
