I am an obease (300 lb) disabled old lady, and need a cane to stand or walk, but, I can not stand looking like a handicap old lady with a cane. Thus, for the last 5 years I have been using a Brazos twisted sweet gum walking stick instead. Its wonderful, I work at a college and hardly a week goes by that someone young healthly hiker type doesn't stop and question me on where I got it. It is extreemly light weight (everyone is shocked when they hold it at how very light weight it is) but extreemly strong. I have used it every day, and put a lot of weight on it, but it looks as good as the day I bought it.

I had a walking stick for 25 + years, I bought it from Lands End and Loved it, did a great deal of hiking with it.
I recently managed to sit on it & broke it. I was heartbroken. I don't hike anymore Its difficult to even walk fast at 73 but I used my stick and walked all over NYC with it.
Better then a cane, I look eccentric rather then old & IT GIVES ME STABILITY!
I found this new walking stick from Brazos Walking Sticks/Twisted Sweet Gum-48
I used it as soon as it arrived (today on time by the way) and its wonderful.
