A must for anyone who wants to better understand African-European relations of this time period,

This review is from: Brazza in Congo: A Life and Legacy (Hardcover)
It was too easy for European colonialists to underestimate the African people. "Brazza in Congo: A Life and Legacy" tells the story of one remarkable man who chose peace and respect when many others in his position chose to treat Africans as sub-humans. To this day, the African capital of the Congo carries his name, and author Idanna Pucci will explain to readers why. Pietro Paolo Savorgnan di Brazza was a forerunner of peaceful relations in Africa throughout the later half of the nineteenth century. Though he did much to bridge the gap between Africa and Europe, Brazza's work was tragically cut short. "Brazza in Congo" is a must for anyone who wants to better understand African-European relations of this time period.
