5.0 out of 5 stars Mychael Danna scores again., August 8, 2007

For anyone who loved Mychael Danna's score to Billy Ray's "Shattered Glass," "Breach" is a must-have to add to your collection. It's a generally somber score (and movie), but don't let that stop you from enjoying a fine score from a good film composer. Mychael Danna is becoming one of those "composers to watch."

4.0 out of 5 stars Fragmented score, yet leaves you wanting more., July 20, 2011
This review is from: Breach (Audio CD)
Brief review written on a whim:

"Moving," "gloomy," "religious," "beautiful," "haunting," "dark," "hypnotic" are some of the words that pop into my head to describe Danna's film score. The music does a good job supporting the film; for example, certain parts underscore the main character's bizarre, twisted mind (although this might be due to the power of suggestion after having seen the film).

Nonetheless, once you listen to the tracks (and judging by their length) you might get the impression that these are fragments of musical ideas which could have been further developed. Of course, the limitations inherent in film scoring are well-known.

After listening to the soundtrack you might wonder how it's possible that anyone can write music like this. How can anyone "think" of writing such hauntingly beautiful chords, etc? That's the genius of the composer.

I loved the music when I saw the film, but it also stands on its own, as lovely and evocative listening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and sober exercice in contemplation, December 2, 2009

This Danna soundtrack is quite fascinating by its calm and its sobriety. It supports remarkably the movie which underlines with subtlety the complex relationship between the characters played by Cooper and Philippe. This music however is quite self supporting without any reference to the movie.

ok, i will admit it. i am a soundtrack addict. it all started with the edward scissorhands album..then pretty much everything from yann tiersen, adrian johnson, craig armstrong, and hans zimmer have become real favorites.. the soundtrack is often what makes a good film, in my opinion. this movie was alright, but - the soundtrack.. it kept pulling me into the storyline..and it glued me to my seat until the very end - after the credits began to roll. the music makes you feel the right emotions, just as the characters are feeling them, and leaves me breathless. add this album to your collection if you love beautiful music, you won't be sorry!
