This is an older edition, so the first 1/3 of the book goes through specific information about dated machines, but the rest of the book is very good. It goes through all different types of flours, additives (grains, seeds, fruit, flax meal, wheat germ, etc), sweeteners, dough enhancers and how to make adjustments in the liquid for an array of variables. There is a general troubleshooting section that covers most standard problems and it gives a decent background on the chemistry behind yeast and bread making in general. Even if you don't find exactly what you looking for in the troubleshooting section, if you are a critical thinker, you will be able to use the information provided to successfully adapt any recipe for the bread machine. There are 29 recipes in the final section of the book, but this is more of a general guide to bread machine baking than a recipe book. There is a recipe called Lois's Country Crunch Bread, which is a simple and amazing recipe. I use an organic prairie gold flour and this makes this most rockin'-est sandwich bread, especially for grilled cheeses. This ain't your momma's white bread! I would buy the book for this recipe alone, but this book is older and cheap (.01 + shipping, used!) and still has a lot of valid information.

Loved the helpful hints, just like the title says. Very easy to understand, and reading the book makes you want to jump up and start making bread in your bread machine!
