5.0 out of 5 stars The Epitome of 20th Century Retrospectives
This film, and the others in the series, was produced by PBS along with the glut of specials and documentaries looking back at 1900 to 1999 that came along at the turn of the 21st century. The difference between this one and those others is that this is excellent. Actually there was one other documentary series about the 20th Century that does hold a candle to this one...

1.0 out of 5 stars boring movie
It is an exetremely BORING movie. Some of the people on it are so old you can't hear them. Some people talk japaneese and you can't understand them. This movie is one of the worst movies I've ever seen!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Epitome of 20th Century Retrospectives, March 4, 2007
This review is from: Breadline-Great Depression at Home [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This film, and the others in the series, was produced by PBS along with the glut of specials and documentaries looking back at 1900 to 1999 that came along at the turn of the 21st century. The difference between this one and those others is that this is excellent. Actually there was one other documentary series about the 20th Century that does hold a candle to this one. That being "The Century: America's Time" which was produced by ABC News and hosted by the late great Peter Jennings. But as PBS is capable of doing, they were able to cover the century in exquisite detail over some 26 or so hours whereas ABC could only spare about 10. Both series are, in my opinion, a must for every home video library.

I watched in History class and thought it was pretty interesting. Showing the people riding on the trains to find jobs, people literally moving all there stuff to the West to find work. And how the military burned the camps outside the White House w/ Hoover in office.

It also told of how basically FDR saved the motha..f...uc..kin USA!
