Simple and versatile enough to bring joy to astronauts in a space station, this breadmaker creates nearly any imaginable type of bread--including batter breads like banana-nut--as well as cakes, pizza and bagel doughs, and jams. Buttons and an LED display make 56 combinations available: choices include a 1-1/2- or 2-pound loaf; regular or rapid-rise settings; light, medium, or dark crust; and thin, crisp French-style or regular crust.

Making bread begins by placing basic ingredients into the bread pan and letting the machine mix, knead, rise, punch down, rise again, and bake, or by using frozen bread dough and the bake-only cycle. Furthermore, ingredients can be placed in the machine up to 15 hours from the time a fresh, warm loaf is wanted; simply program the machine to begin work so the loaf emerges at the desired time. Bread for supper can be started in the morning or breakfast cinnamon rolls the day before. An instruction video and booklet accompany the machine, along with recipes for breads, jams, doughs, and cakes. The bread pan and kneading paddle are nonstick and clean in warm, soapy water. The machine will beep to alert you when it's time to add any special ingredients, like fruit or nuts. The pans are shaped in the traditional horizontal loaf. The Breadman Plus machine uses 530 watts of power and measures 9 by 13-1/2 by 13 inches. A VHS instructional video is included.

I received this machine for Christmas last year. My husband thought it would become a "fad" gadget, but we use it all the time. I really like the delay start cycle. We can wake to fresh, warm bread. The machine is a little noisy. It sounds a little like a barking dog, but the final product is worth it!

It's easy to get replacement parts for the Breadman but not so easy to find it on the web. I spent two hours searching and that's why I'm posting this! They are a division of Toastmaster. The web site is www.maxim-toastmaster.com and the customer service department is 800-233-9054. They are VERY friendly and fast. I just replaced my kneading paddle for $8 and they don't charge you for shipping.

I bought the Breadman TR800 from another catalog. I have owned one other bread machine in the past. This one baked fine, but was SO NOISY we couldn't tolerate it. It's getting shipped back today.

I came to Amazon to check out what else is available and what others have said about those machines. This machine, besides being noisy, only has 1 blade which I guess is no longer the standard. It sounds like 2 is better. I am considering the one that starts with a Z, but I can't go back to that page to learn the spelling. I hope this helps you in your decision making.
