Breadman Plus - AWESOME MACHINE!!!,
By Kim Ragle (San Jose, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Breadman TR875 Breadmaker, 2 LB. (Kitchen)
My husband bought this bread machine for me several years ago for Christmas and I absolutely LOVE it!!! In fact I've used it so much that I finally wore out the motor and now I'm in the process of buying another one just like it. Mind you on an average I use my machine 3-5 times a week. A lot of times I'll make a loaf of bread when I get home from work. Throw in the ingredients, push the button and it's that easy. Within a couple of hours, fresh hot bread. On the weekends when I have a little more time, I make a lot of things from the dough cycle. We did our research and found this machine to be the best buy. I highly recommend this machine. Very easy to use, very user friendly. I've made everything from white bread, wheat bread, raisin bread and I even tried some of the off the wall breads. I use the dough cycle a lot and from that I've made pizza dough, English muffins (which my kids JUST love), pretzels, dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls the list goes on. Honestly, the stuff I've made taste just like store bought if not better. Ask my kids. You know how picky kids can be and if they keep asking you to make more, then you know it's got to be good. If you're buying your first bread machine and are confused on what kind of cookbooks to buy because there are so many to choose from, Donna Rathmell German has the best. She has about 6-7 bread machine cookbooks. I bought them all and have tried several different recipes from every book. There was not one recipe I did not like. Everything turned out great!!! These are good books to have if your just beginning. She helps you understand everything you need to know about how to make the perfect breads. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your machine.

In my circle of acquaintances, a bread machine is something that you buy - use it once - and then put it in a cupboard. So I wondered if a machine at this price point would be just another piece of junk waiting for next yard sale.
After 3 months - using this device every other day - I have to express my admiration for how well designed and practical it is. I have particular admiration for how intuitive the time setup is for delayed baking - which is just about the only kind we do. Waking up to the smell of fresh bread baking has been a nice addition to our lives. But it all comes down to the bread, and - so far - the TR875 has been a solid performer. I would buy another one of these in a heartbeat.

This machine makes good bread. Had used a Breadman before, which started
slow mix procedure immediately on starting. This new machine has a timed delay on the long cycles, which means that the machine does nothing for several minutes after starting. No explanation about this in the instructions, so we felt that we had not properly set up the parameters. We were pleased with the bread on both fast and long cycles. The machine is relatively quiet and vibration free.(compared to older model we had)

Tastes Like Bakery Bread,
This review is from: Breadman TR875 Breadmaker, 2 LB. (Kitchen)
I LOVE this machine!
I had a bread machine seveal years ago and it just didn't do a good job, so I was wary of bread machines in general and didn't expect this one to be much better. Boy, was I wrong. It bakes bread that tastes like it was baked at a bakery, with a crispy crust and a soft fully-cooked inside. Our first test was plain white bread, just to break in the machine. It was great and tasted even better the next day when we put it in the toaster. The dough setting is very good, too. We used it to make french bread (both finished in the machine and just dough that we put in the oven) and it tasted better than we could buy in a store. My husband loves it. I also made dark pumpernickel (called "black bread" in NYC) that was out of this world and tested just like the bakery bread in New York. We bought several varieties of flour from King Arthur and think their flour is better than store-bought flour when used in this machine. The bottom line is this: I would not give up this machine and would buy it again in a heartbeat.

So far, so bad,

I received a Breadman Pro (TR875) for Christmas, along with a bread machine cookbook. The book that comes with the bread machine really doesn't have many recipes or explain the cycles well. I tried to make a loaf of banana bread. The instructions said to use the Quick Bread/ Cake cycle. The closest thing I could find to that on this machine was the Super Rapid Cycle so I used that. The loaf looked and smelled great but when I took it our of the pan the center of the loaf still looked like batter and the whole loaf fell apart. What a disappointment. I have other recipes that call for the Quick Bread cycle and I have no idea how to handle these, and am wondering what exactly is the Super Rapid Cycle for?

This machine appears to have a stronger motor than the Cusinart I had before, the motor of which became always very hot; hence it did not last very long. I expect this machine to do much better. While it is not superior in programs to the Cusinart machine, it does produce very good results.

This is a really solid bread machine. It does a great job and the price cannot be beat - much better than the other bread machines in the price range and it isn't worth it to pay more to get comparable quality.

We have only had this a few weeks and have made about 3 loaves a week. Rapid rise/ bake makes egg bread in under 1 hr and 20 min. Great to have a fresh loaf for dinner. We enjoy the ease of the whole process from beginning to end. My 9 year old son and I love the bread. Every loaf we have made has turned out. We like the window so we can see how its going.
The machine is not as loud as we thought it might be. The only drawback is the size. It takes up a lot of counterspace, but that's ok with us, since it works great!

I love this breadmaker - it is very easy to use, looks nice and is a very reasonable price! I use it 1 - 2 times per week, no problems. For "newbies", I highly recommend getting the Better Homes & Gardens "Best Bread Machine Recipes" cookbook, too - has excellent tips on making perfect bread. Until I got this book, I was having trouble, now I have a perfect loaf every time!
