5.0 out of 5 stars Great Hard Candy Mold
I got this, and the square break apart mold. Both worked wonderfully. I make red cinnamon & green wintergreen clear hard candy for Christmas, and these molds worked great. It helps to have a helper, one pours, one smooths the hot candy over the mold to get it in all the corners before it starts to harden. If you don't have a helper, put the molds on a hot pad, kitchen...

If you really want to make candy and want something worthwhile move on. This is flimsy, cheap plastic and not worth the price.

If you don't have a helper, put the molds on a hot pad, kitchen towel, or something to keep them from cooling down too quickly. (I have granite, which cools the candy down quickly.)

A 2 cups of sugar recipe uses 4 of these molds, to be sure it doesn't get too thick. There is a little edge, to keep the liquid in, but you can go over, which would make the candy too thick to break cleanly & easily. Spread it over the mold to get it to break nicely and make smoother pieces. If you get it the right thickness, they break out into a bag like an ice tray, very easily. The molds make making hard candy easy. :)

Yes they are plastic, and flexible. That is exactly what you want when making hard candy, so you can actually get it out. I have three of these and have made several batches of candy with them. They work perfectly and hold up to the heat and bending that I subject them to.
