Editorial Reviews

Product Description
How old is too old for children to sleep with their parents? If this question even needs to be asked, odds are it’s too old. Yet millions of parents struggle with this issue every single night, literally losing sleep over it. Half of all preschoolers sleep with their parents, and nearly a quarter of all school-aged children do so as well. It’s no wonder we’re a nation of sleep-deprived kids and adults. In this book, acclaimed psychologist Valerie Levine, Ph.D., helps parents set bedtime boundaries and stick to them. With quizzes designed to identify each family’s specific challenges, Dr. Levine’s practical, hands-on guide reveals how to break the co-sleeping habit no matter what the age or the circumstances of the child. In doing so, parents learn not only how to handle this tough issue, but also receive the tools they need to face similar parenting issues down the road.

About the Author
Valerie Levine, Ph.D. (Hendersonville, NC), has a background as a research psychologist in the area of parent-child interaction and more than twenty-five years of experience providing psychological services to young children, adolescents, and their parents. In addition to her private practice, she conducts lectures and workshops for parents, teachers, medical doctors, and lawyers on such topics as child abuse, school violence, domestic violence, parenting during divorce, parent-child bonding, and positive discipline. She earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology at the City University of New York, and has studied with such luminaries as Arnold Lazarus and Albert Ellis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Break the Co-Sleeping Habit, March 2, 2009
By Dr. Natalie Lamond (Hendersonville, NC) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As I physician, I whole-heartedly recommend this book for my patients who are struggling to set boundaries with their children. Dr Levine effectively guides parents through the process of transitioning the child to sleep safely and soundly on their own. I will use this book to help educate my patients!
As I parent, I can testify that Dr Levine has given me more insight and confidence in dealing with one of the most challenging aspects of childrearing. Thanks to Dr Levine, we are ALL sleeping better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous parenting book!, February 21, 2009
We are so grateful for this book. Our daughter will be 5 years old this spring and we want her to learn how to sleep in her own bed before kindergarten. Dr. Levine's book has given us the confidence and guidance we need to help her with these important transitions. My wife and I have already recommend this book to our friends.
