4.0 out of 5 stars Time for the times
i wholeheartedly agree with everyone who would have wanted 2 discs with all the full length versions. It's also too bad the eddie baez mix of "I Don't Want To" wasn't used for this continuous mix. For collectors of long versions, here's how the times pan out:

1. intro (1:18)
2. Un-break My Heart (5:51)
3. Spanish Guitar (7:48)
4. You're...

There are just so many artists out there that use the power of remixes for their songs to make them even better onto the music scene. That does go around quite well, but other times it just can be too much for any musical act. It has had its faults for acts like Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez and so many musical icons. Toni Braxton is another perfectional example. Unlike Mariah Carey or Britney Spears, Toni's voice has definitely been a lot more focused than manufactured woth her remixes. That isn't a bad thing, but when there happens to be a remix collection of your songs, some just seem to wonder.

Un-Break My Heart: The Remix Collection, is a collection of remixes of Toni Braxton's well-received tracks from her work with Arista & LaFace records in the 1990's. The songs here on this collection seem to be a little bit more repititious, and replayed, rather than showing a bit more widely detailed versions of her tracks. Considering that the collection does feature remixed versions of some of her great tracks like Un-Break My Heart, You're Makin' Me High, Hit The Freeway, and Spanish Guitar. The songs here are good, but there just could've been a little more variety here on this album rather than only a few songs remixed more than once. Especially where other good songs like Another Sad Love Song, Breathe Again, and Just Be A Man About It weren't even featured in remixed versions on this collection at all.

All in all, Toni Braxton still has some great pop songs here remixed well, but I was just expecting a little bit more here on this collection. This is fine as a novelty for any die hard Toni Braxton fan, but others might just want to void this package and consider the 2003 Ultimate Toni Braxton.

this is a hot cd. i love all of the songs and the most of the mixes are pretty long. this cd's also made into a non-stop mix. my five favorites are "Un-Break My Heart(Soul Hex Anthem Mix)," "Spanish Guitar(HQ2 Mix)," "Maybe(HQ2/Dynamix Mix)," "Spanish Guitar(Joe Claussell Mix)," and "You're Makin' Me High (David Morales Mix)." i remember hearing the soul hex mix for un-break my heart many years ago on the radio and i always wanted to own it. this cd is definitely for dance lovers out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toni and Hex @ there BEST, May 11, 2005
This review is from: Un-Break My Heart: The Remix Collection (Audio CD)
This is the ultimate collection, by Toni Braxton, mixed by the famous Hex Hector, using not only HIS remixes of her classics but everyone from Soul Solution, to Rauhofer. It is excellent, It REALLY should've been a 2 disc set, I would pay the $$$, I have all these full length remixes, as well as some that are not included, there is alot to work with, possibly in time and if the product sells a 2 disc set will be avialable overseas, with longer mixes as these tend to range from 5-10 min some not even that, howevere do not let that sway your decision, you really should get this CD, especially for those who do not DJ or own a "turntable" (remember those?) most of the remixes are on 12" vinyl and not on CD format like "Un-Break my Heart" etc and some others. So do buy this CD it's an incredible $$$ for the amount you get, the various dance club remixes, and not to forget Toni and her remarkable pure voice, mixed non stop flawless...by Hex Hector himself (one of the most well known DJ's around) working with everyone from Madonna, Enrique, Faith Hill, Whitney, Lara Fabian, Anastacia...and if that is not enough very well known names, you do not know "great" dance remixes. BUT we all are different in a world where people have different tastes. I can guarantee if you put this CD on at your next July 4th or any holiday party, you will get the best compliments, a party is not a PARTY without the music. (NEVER play a mixed CD on shuffle...You tend to get the tail end of the previous OR the beginning "a sample" of the up comming song, really destroys the feeling). This remix CD sure beats looking around for the "full length mixes" which most are no longer avialable, do spend the $$$. IT's WORTH IT,
Jason Professional DJ

3.0 out of 5 stars "OK", April 13, 2005

I like these remixes that are included on here. I guess I have more complaints though than positive things to say about this remix CD. I don't understand why they only included on here Toni's remixes that were released. I wished they would have dug a little deeper and maybe remixed a few other ones and included them on here as well. She has SO many good songs that were radio hits that could have been remixed and added to the listing. Instead they include duplicate remixes of 2 songs (1 being back to back on the track listing!) Another thing I was a little upset about is that the really good ones they only put the edits on here and the not so good ones put the full length club mixes on here. How disappointing is that?!? I pretty much have all these mixes somewhere scattered over numerous compilations. I will still listen to this just for the sheer convenience of it all being on one CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pop It In and ENJOY!!!, June 10, 2005
This review is from: Un-Break My Heart: The Remix Collection (Audio CD)
This is a great mix of Ms. Braxton's work in the past. AND IT BEING A CONTINUOUS MIX that seems to flow like silk into each song is done very good!

The only thing "bad" about it is that Un-Break My Heart and Spanish Guitar were each used twice, but besides that, this mix should get you going. Makes me want more and more of Mrs. B with her new album coming soon!

Hit The Freeway / He Wasnt Man Enough / Youre Makin' Me High are all good ones in my opinion on this one!

4 out of 5!

Ok, I was really excited to hear about this album, mostly because it included the He Wasn't Man Enough For Me Peter Rauhofer NYC Club Mix as well as the Vasquez Club Mix. However, once I bought the cd and listened to it I was very disappointed because it was not the full mix or even an edit of either song. Whoever mixed this cd decided to mix both songs together so you do not get a full version of either mix, what you get on track 7 is the begining of the Rauhofer mix and track 8 you get the end of the Vasquez mix. I really wish this was not done because I wanted to have had a complete mix of each song. As for the rest of the cd I do have to say I like it and it does contain some mixes of Toni's that I did not have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Remixed & Remade, September 10, 2005

She's baaaaaaack! 6-time Grammy Award-winner Toni Braxton has one of the most exciting hits package to come along in a decade. The reason being, it's not your typical greatest hits package. It's ten of the most instantly recognizable club and radio hits of Braxton's that have had a makeover so fabulous, the DJ's deserve the 2005 diva medal of honor. If only the "Fab Five" Queer Eye guys could do to television what these "Fab Six" men have done for music, they might have a longer shelf life. Question: What do Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Peter Rauhofer and Hex Hector have in common with Toni Braxton? Answer: All of them have won Grammy Awards. Along with Junior Vasquez and Joe Claussell, these six remixers have remastered seven songs that have reached the tops of the charts. Three of the songs included have won Grammy's, 1996's "Un-Break My Heart" and 2000's "He Wasn't Man Enough" are treated to two remixes apiece, as is 2000's "Spanish Guitar," and Grammy-winner "You're Makin' Me High," "I Don't Want To Lose You," "Hit The Freeway," and "Maybe" round out the ten tracks that take you on an orgasmic journey. Five of the ten remixed tracks have never been released commercially, and "Maybe" is a previously unreleased remix. This is the definitive collection for Toni Braxton fans and a must for fans of this genre and of these sensational songs. Braxton's smokin' vocals and over an hour of bumping and thumping will certainly make you high. If this disc doesn't keep you grooving, make an appointment
with your doctor and have your pulse checked.

While it is great to get some of these songs on one compilation, I think there's something ridiculous about charging a full album's price for the same few songs done over and over.... AND, they skipped a lot of her classics....

Another missed opportunity.

I too was really excited when I found out this album was being released...but it kind of sucks...like one reviewer said, the mixes aren't the complete full length versions nor are they the edits, so you get neither, just a lazily assembled mishmosh. What they should have done is that they should have made this a 2-cd set, one with the full-length versions of her dance mixes, and one with the single edits (some of her songs were bigger hits, or just as big, in remixed form as in original form, such as "Un-Break My Heart," "I Don't Want To," "Spanish Guitar," "I Belong To You" etc., and all those edits would have been perfect for disc 2).
