First CD from a great but little known group,

Actually it's their second, but the first to most who know about them. What a blessing this group is! Their songs are deep without being confusing, touching without being mushy, heartfelt without feeling "girly". These guys are the first band remotely country that I began to listen to, however to call the group country doesn't fit. It's rock-country with an emphasis on the rock IMHO, but a definite country feel and sentimentality. I can't say enough about the band to be honest! First saw them in Lincoln, NE...and can't get enough from there on out. I was the type to listen the hell out of a CD and then rarely listen to it again, but I always return to TGD's CDs--ALWAYS! You can't go wrong with any of them. This CD has their most memorable songs as far as "fun tunes" go. I enjoy the songs Mike sings the best, but they are all good. Some are fun, some are deep, but all the songs will set your soul free and make you feel alive! Also check out Mike McClure's (lead singer) solo CD "12 Pieces". It's acoustic and more mellow, but very solid IMHO!...

Break in the Storm is one of the best albums out there! I've been listening to it for two years straight. There's not a single song on it that I skip. (I can't say that about too many cds these days--Can you!?!) If you haven't given The Great Divide a listen, you really should! It will be well worth your time!!

This album is one of my favorites. From "Pour me a vacation" to the soulful "I want to come home" this cd offers a wide range of talent. (Scotte has some great vocals on this one.)

Great music and lyrics, these guys are having fun doing what they love. And what they love is making brilliant music. The lyrics and music are from the soul and are as original as they come. Once the CD enters your player is doesn't leave for weeks and it is normally replace by one of their other CD's

I am a student at Oklahoma State University where these guys first started playing at bars like the Wormy Dog Saloon. Maybe you've heard of another OSU veteran, Garth Brooks, well these guys are a whole lot cooler. I've seen them at least a dozen times and each time has been better than the next. They're music is like a soundtrack for a young, foolish half-cocked college student. You got to buy it.

I usually buy a few country CDs a month and this one is by far the best one I have bought in a long time. It is up beat and the song selection is great.

A Van Morrison meets Country Band,

Okay, I admit it. I bought the CD because I loved the hit--Pour Me a Vacation. However, this is one of those CD's that you tell everyone to buy, I've even sent some to Maine. I am particularly fond of every song sung by Mike McClure. I'm not from Oklahoma, I don't like a whole lot of country music, but I really like the Great Divide, and I am hooked on most songs on this album. Don't get thrown by the couple of twangy songs, I just skip the tracks by the other vocalist. And, band, if you're listening, I would put my egg's in Mike's basket, and let him assume all vocal responsibility. You'll definitely draw a varied crowd with his talent and sound. Good luck. Meanwhile I'll continue my role as underground promoter of a --country--band.

An excellent album, by a band that helped kick off the whole "red dirt" music scene. I love this album, it's still one of my favorie Americana music albums.

As a long time Jimmy Buffett fan I was drawn to this album for one song...."Pour Me A Vacation" but when I heard the album in it's whole , I was simply blown away. This is one of the best album's of 1998, regardless of style or type of music. Mike McClure is a songsmith to be reckoned with. The title song is fantasic. No matter what type of music you like you will find something on this album to appeal to your musical tastes.
