About the Author

Even as a child Renee Matteo would craft stories and poems for her family. Every special occasion, wedding, birth or anniversary became a new poem. When she lost her mom at six years old, it was just the first of many setbacks that she learned from and had to recover from. Her passion to connect through her words led her to a degree in communications from Kent State University where she graduated a semester early. Since writing had always been her passion, Renee hoped that she could express the heartaches, successes and exhilarations she’d lived herself and heard from others in stories that would touch those who would read them. Renee resides in the suburbs of Cleveland, OH with her eight year old daughter Reilly where she is an active part of the school and her community. Her most important volunteer work can be found at www.ritamatteo.org, a non-profit foundation started by her family to award scholarships to students of their community who share the same spirit for volunteerism as her mother.

I read many different kinds of books and will often stop reading early on if the story line doesn't interest me. Break your Heart was able to hold my interest and keep me wanting to read more. I really enjoyed the entire story and would love to read more from this author!

Break Your Heart
This is a story of a self centered unsympathetic woman who breaks up with the love of her life for no apparent reason and is unwilling to live with the consequences. She didn't care who got hurt. I did not like or relate to her at all.

The story was disjointed and lacked details about all of the relationships. But there was a lot of detail about inconsequential stuff. Example: She slowly pulled down the ramp and approached the toll booth at the exit of the garage. "Ticket?" The young girl in the booth held out her hand. She was wearing a navy windbreaker jacket with her name embroidered in yellow thread in the upper left hand corner. Jackie. Her eyes were glued to the small Blackberry she held in her hand. "Here you go," Gina handed her the green parking ticket she had retrieved when she pulled in. The girl slipped the ticket in the machine.

Her exit from the parking garage goes on for another six paragraphs.

The author has a way of telling a tale that will allow you to relate to the characters and the situation, and stay riveted to the story. That doesn't come easy these days with all the eBooks that are available now in the market. I must admit that my purchase has been influenced by the reviews from others but I'm so glad I did join them - and now I'm writing this. I just wished we could have read a chapter more of Gina and Grant.

I suppose everyone takes away what he/she needs from a well-developed story, and “Break Your Heart” delivers exactly what every reader needs – hope for greater love. The author’s early and thorough development of the primary characters, combined with intimate details of their interactions is endearing to all who love relationships. Although love stories are not the first genre that I typically reach for, I purchased this book on recommendation and am glad that I did.

Wow, ever think you might need an editor? The basic story line is good and well thought out. There are some place what drag onto long with needless drama. The issue that I found most disturbing was the authors inability to distinguish between the words hoping and hopping and then there is the misuse of the word contention several times. Each time a word popped up, and if think poped was used in place of popped at least once, i lost the train of thought the author was working on. It might actually be very good if edited properly. Why go to so much effort to write this novel and post it, but not care enough to see it edited properly?

Very good. Light romance. Great summer read. Our book club had the author Attend. It was a wonderful discussion to share her insight and get our feedback.

I love a story of a first love or old love rekindled and Break My Heart was a good one. Don't let the formatting and few spell/grammar mistakes keep you from reading this novel by first time author. The couples unresolved love ended with a great finish.

I don't download free kindle books with ratings of less than four and a half stars, so I feel like accurate reviews are important. There's nothing wrong with this book, but it was a little blah to me. A sort of predictable ending, which as a romantic I generally am a fan of, but the plot never really grabbed me. I also felt myself getting annoyed at the characters, rather than empathizing or sympathizing with them.
My opinion may not mesh with the other reviewers, but I wouldn't pay for this book.
