"DADDY, THIS ALBUM'S ON CD! YOU EVEN HAVE IT. NO ONE LISTENS TO RECORDS ANYMORE". A sound argument, if you pardon the pun. Yes, this classic has been out on the CD for years. I won't even talk about the songs. By now, this album has been talked about and played on the radio for so long with its legendary tracks like the title track, "The Logical Song", "Goodbye Stranger", etc., you wonder if anything new needs to be said...

Then the reissue on vinyl came out.

I was cautious about buying an album I know so well again on an old system. My system isn't anything that fancy. A Yamaha receiver, Technica turntable, and Polk speakers. And the difference was immediate the moment I took the record out.

Here's the key. This is a heavy record, literally. When you take it out it's jacket, you feel the difference of the 180 gram platter. This makes a huge difference. The record is more resistant to scratches and ticks than a standard record. When you play it, you really feel the sound fill the room. The vocals sound almost it's live in the room. The acoustic instruments they use so often like clarinet and sax leap out at you. The drums don't sound thin. There's a warmth that carries tough that enhances the album like never before, almost orchestral which was such an important part of the Supertramp sound. Even if you've heard this album before, the reissued vinyl scrapes all the memories of what you thought Breakfast In America was, and becomes an experience like hearing for the first time. More over, the way it was meant to be heard. Highly recommended!

Excellent album, pressing quality, sound, music and band! Also arrived safely and in good time!! Very melodic, structured, textbook perfect English 'art' rock. Somewhere between symphony and rock 'n roll. It should have been one of the greatest albums of all times and probably is?...

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Album to Date, August 17, 2010

I absolutely love this album. I used to listen to it all the time on our local college radio station. Interesting tidbit of information, did you know that one of the promos for the album cover was going to be a set of salt and pepper shakers tumbling down on the front cover? I absolutely love Supertramp and I really like Rodger Hodgson. He has that indistinguishable voice you would recognize anywhere. This is definitely a keeper in my album collection.
