5.0 out of 5 stars Always accurate, very informative and easy to use
Having used extensively the two earlier editions of this Guide, I can recommend this one without hesitation. The organization is terrific and easy to use when planning a meandering road trip, the descriptions are excellent, and all the phone numbers, etc., are accurate as are the reported prices. It holds up regardless of location - in the city and the countryside, in...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that helpful
Was not thrilled with the content of this book. Most of the book contains information on England, with only a small portion on Scotland. Also, there are only pictures of the outside of the property, and no URLs are included - most of the properties do in fact have websites. The description of each place seemed more like it was supplied by the owners, not by someone who...

Having used extensively the two earlier editions of this Guide, I can recommend this one without hesitation. The organization is terrific and easy to use when planning a meandering road trip, the descriptions are excellent, and all the phone numbers, etc., are accurate as are the reported prices. It holds up regardless of location - in the city and the countryside, in Scotland, England and Wales. Talking with the proprietors while making reservations is terrific in that they can give you tips you might not think of as they know the details about their environs, including the roads. Increasingly the locations have their own websites where you can actually see rooms inside, although I learned that the proprietors are excruciatingly honest in presenting their descriptions and will volunteer all the information you need. I recommend this guide highly and found it much better and factual than, for instance, the chatty Karen Brown which is a lot more opinionated.
