The "Best Bed & Breakfast 2005-2006"

Actually the volume seems to be based on a well thought out concept and appears with a good presentation.
But a more closer look shows careless and poor editing, which deteriorates the usefulness remarkably: The page numbers given on the counties map do not correspond correctly to the actual page numbers in the book, so that there a regional map-based search is not possible. Looking for Yorkshire lets end one up in Scotland, Kent leads to Leicester- and Nottinghamshire, while Oxfordshire appears instead of Norfolk and Essex doesn't show up at all. Skipping therefore this orientation map as useless and relying on a correct alphabetical order makes clear, that Essex is missing completely.

Having informed the publishing houses concerned U.K.H.M. Ltd. Box 31855 in Lon-don W11 4WR and The Globe Pequot Press, 246 Goose Lane, Box 480 in Guildford, CT 06437, USA by both, letter and e-mail, does not result in an answer or reaction of what kind so ever for four weeks now.

So this bed-and-breakfast guide is not recommendable at all and its price of 13.57 $ is far too high for what one gets at last.

I purchased this book as I'm planning a trip to Scotland this summer. However, I was sorely disappointed in the disproportion of the areas of bed and breakfasts referenced. The book is almost 400 pages long; nearly 300 of these pages are for England, but only 20 pages are for Scotland and another 20 are for Wales. In total there are only 60 B&Bs listed for Scotland; many regions aren't represented at all, and the major cities have only a few listed (Glasgow, the largest city in the country, only has one listing!). I'm highly disappointed that a broader sample of B&Bs couldn't be listed, and will not be taking this book with me on vacation. The only reason I gave this two stars instead of one was because of the large number of entries for England, which may be helpful to others.
