Swingin',

This review is from: Breakin Out (Audio CD)
All those who thinks Shearing "sold out" or can't really swing should check out this swinging album with the stellar Ray Brown on bass and Marvin "Smitty" Smith on drums. How can you not swing with those two accompaning you? Great tune selections and just an overall good feeling straight ahead album with nice little arrangements. As Jack Kerouac put it in On The Road, "George Shearing is God." Although sometimes you wonder if his left hand comping on each beat doesn't let Ray Brown be Ray Brown.

This review is from: Breakin Out (Audio CD)
This is an older release by Shearing. It has a sort of '80s sound to it but it nonetheless is a very listenable record.
