This William S. Paley Television Festival live event honors "Breaking Bad," a drama series about a chemistry teacher in Albuquerque who manufactures methamphetamine to support his family after being diagnosed with cancer.
David Kronke (TV critic/pop culture writer) moderates the following panelists: series creator/executive producer Vince Gilligan; executive producer Mark Johnson; and cast members Dean Norris (Hank Schrader), Bryan Cranston (Walter White), Anna Gunn (Skyler White), Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman), and RJ Mitte (Walter White, Jr.).
The panelists touch on such topics as: pitching the show to AMC; script scenes that shocked the cast; moral boundaries explored by the show; if the program has "crossed the line" for some of its original fans; and which major character was saved because of the strike by the Writers Guild of America.
Questions from the audience then lead to a discussion of the following topics among others: how long Gilligan thinks the show will run; using virginal New Mexico as a setting for the series; "happy accidents" on the show that made Gilligan consider himself "blessed"; and whether Cranston worried that seven seasons on "Malcolm in the Middle" would restrict him to comedies.
