Book Description

April 3, 2008
Breaking the Code of Silence: Alana Wyatt Smith Tells All chronicles the intense relationship and whirlwind marriage between a young woman and one of Hip-Hops most beloved artists. An honest and open memoir, Wyatt tells her story of how her turbulent childhood, difficult teenage years and sometimes not-so-wise decisions aided in her development to become a devoted mother and a strong, independent woman. Controversial and straightforward Breaking the Code of Silence holds no punches as Wyatt reveals how her glamorous lifestyle -envied by many wasn't always so fabulous. Part biography, part cautionary tale, Wyatt tells her story to educate and inspire others to be independent and remain true to themselves.

1.0 out of 5 stars There is no possible way this chick had this book edited, December 15, 2009
This review is from: Breaking the Code of Silence (Paperback)
It would have been nice maybe if the author had some help writing this book. I have bad grammar, but this is a published book! If she had a ghostwriter to maybe develop her childhood stories, or show some insight, this would have sold better. As for the story on Mos Def, who is my music hero..........I don't know. Still, granted its an interesting read, women who think sex is the only thing they've got. At the end of the book you find that she really hasn't learned anything from her escapades, and you can probably put this book in the pile of rap video chicks who sleep with the artist and write a tell all book. There is no breaking of any code, we all know this stuff goes down. My final review for this book would be if you have an hour to spare, go ahead read up. I laughed pretty hard at some choice spots, but I don't think it was meant to be funny.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed, April 15, 2009
This review is from: Breaking the Code of Silence (Paperback)
I was excited about reading this book, and when I finally received it I was totally disappointed. It is poorly written and I still haven't finished it. I guess I'll finish reading it on a rainy day when I have nothing else better to do.

Please don't spend hard earned money on this book. The grammer errors are terrible, it's hard to read the book without thinking WTF.
