This book by David Sampley, a first time author, is a must have for anyone who has a loved one in a nursing home.Although it is not lengthy, this book is filled with alot of useful inside information. All this information was derived first hand from an employee, a nurse. Although he worked at one nursing home, this sort of neglect and physical and mental abuse exists everywhere. I hope everyone who cares about the helpless and elderly get a chance to read this one. Enlightening and heartfelt describe this book best. If you are interested in knowing what really happens when you aren't there with your loved ones, after all the visitors leave and you and your family trusts they are in good hands, this book is for you. I find it disturbing yet educational. If only more people had this sort of insight before hand far less abusive behavior would result. I applaud the efforts of David to enlighten us all and hope "Breaking the Code of Silence" reaches the homes of all those who need more information on nursing homes. I found this book a good read with a sense of moral awareness, both moving and touching.

I AM RECENT GRADUATE OF A PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM AND WHILE GOING TO SCHOOL I WORKED PART TIME IN A FACILITY WITH GERIATRIC PATIENTS. EVERY PERSON INVOLVED IN THE CARE OF THESE PEOPLE, RIGHT DOWN TO THE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF, SHOULD READ THIS BOOK. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ANYONE AROUND THE ELDERLY TO WATCH FOR AND REPORT ABUSE. WHAT IF IT WAS YOUR MOTHER OR GRANDMOTHER!! I RECOMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE.
