Outstanding! For the Un superficial listener,
By A Customer
This review is from: Breaking of the Dawn (Audio CD)
I NEVER tire of listening to any of Fernando's CDs. I am truly amazed at the depth and insight of his songs. God is truly working in this talented musician. I am not an easy person to please when it comes to Christian music because of the shallowness/showiness that has flooded the Christian music market and its accomodation to secular standards. Fernando (like Michael Card) has not forgotten the love and passion he has for God. I used to think hymns were somewhat boring, although I've always loved the depth of the lyrics. Fernando's rendition of the classic hymns however has presented them in a contemporary manner without compromising the integrity and impact of their message. His smooth voice and beautiful piano arrangements have given me a renewed appreciation for them. I am also impressed with Fernando's courage and honesty in dealing with the subject of death, which the world does everything in its power to deny. His opening praise song is breathtaking and this whole CD has helped me deal with hard times in life. If you want PASSION in your music, you will find it here.

This is the 3rd album I have purchased by Fernando his music is deeply spiritual, honest and uplifting. My favorite song from this album is Jesus King of Angels. I end every day with this one. Buy it, you want be sorry, it would also make a wonderful Christmas gift, I have given copies of this and other albums to friends as gifts and every time I received a greatful thank you for introducing them to his music and they to have become devoted fans. I eagerly watch for his new selections and I am in search of the older ones. Wonderful music, extrodinary talent. When you hear his music you know it flows from his heart and soul and from a relationship with his God and deep love and devotion to his family.

Absolutely the Best!,

This review is from: Breaking of the Dawn (Audio CD)
Without a doubt, this is the most perfect and flawless album I have ever heard. With every listen, it seems to get better; with every listen I am more amazed. In terms of sheer musical quality, this album is tops. Every note and nuance is perfectly planned out, every sound the exact needed to complement the mood; creating a type of sountrack to each story or praise. (With a musician list comprised of such names as Bob Somma, Cameron Stone, Stuart Duncan, Greg Leisz, John Andrew Schreiner, and of course, Fernando himself; it's no wonder). Lyrically, this album is awesome. Not only excellent theologically, the verse also creates a rich tapestry of imagery that effectively transports the listener into its many scenes. If you do not already own this album, buy it. It will be the best purchase you ever made.

Best Christian Music cd I have,
By A Customer
This review is from: Breaking of the Dawn (Audio CD)
I once heard Fernando Ortega live at Calvary Chapel Albuquerque. The way he sang the song "Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted" completely blew away a packed congregation of around 2000 people. I later met him and bought that CD which is not available at Amazon.com. It is called "Night of Your Return." But this CD "The Breaking of the Dawn" is the most wonderful CD I own and by far the best Christian music CD I have. This music is so relaxing and meaningful, it brings me closer to God. The songs "Be Thou My Vision" and "The Breaking of the Dawn" are my two favorite songs on this CD.

I have been a collector of Fernando's music for years. This was the first CD I bought those many years ago but it has not grown old but only matured with me along life's road. I would consider this collection an investment to be enjoyed and that, I feel, will go along with you along your life's road and that you will appreciate each selection in a new and deeper way each time you listen.

Never Disappoints!,

I was introduced to Fernando Ortega by a friend a few years ago. I consistently turn to his music for his truth and melodic songs. They are deep, but simple. I especially love the harmony provided by various female artists such as Susan Ashton. Recently, I purchased Nicholle Nordeman's CD for the song "Small Enough", which features Fernando. Try his music out for the honesty of God's love for us all. As stated in Phil 4:8-9..."...whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy -- think about such things...And the God of peace will be with you."

Wow,

I'm a rocker at heart. Tourniquet, Believer, Fleming and John, Starflyer 59, Fold Zandura, et cetra. But THIS CD fits in with the rest. In the stillness, in the softness, there is PASSION, something missing in recent worship music. The lyrics are incredibly deep and reflective -- reminding us God is more than a spirtual Jukebox -- he's larger than our views of him.If you're tired of the 5 word/3 chord repeat-repeat-repeat prasie chorus game, listen to this. It is worth your time.

Nobody is making music for the glory of God today quite like Fernando Ortega. A strongly talented vocalist, pianist, and musical interpretator, and a really nice guy. On this album, "Lord of Eternity" is a particular favorite. This great music that will calm and relax you on one song, inspire and motivate you on the next, and always move you to praise God.

Ortega's The Breaking of the Dawn,
By Fr Donald P Malin (Colorado, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Breaking of the Dawn (Audio CD)
Fernando Ortega mixes a deep faith in God with a deep faith in the goodness of family, and the good earth that God created. His sweet vocal tones with added simple musical resources provide a home spun atmosphere in which to contemplate one's life and values in contrast to the power-driven, acquisition obsessed world in which we live. I highly recommend all of his catalog to listeners from all walks of life and faith!
