more stuff,
By alexander laurence (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews

Underworld has been involved in a lot of projects. They have created graphic art, video installations, and other bits. They have lost Darren Emerson. But now they have a new collaborator in Gabriel Yared. And this is an Anthony Minghella film. He is always closely involved with the film sound. I listen to these tracks. It's more ambient. It's more background music. There is nothing like "Born Slippy" on this soundtrack. There is barely any percussion. It has a feeling of the future. Underworld have made something very subtle and very beautiful.

This soundtrack truly was a surprise. Find it and listen to it. The marriage of these two artists create an unbelievable mood pulling score that is easy to put on repeat for any mood.
Many thanks for this Brian

Gentle, atmospheric and very grown-up soundtrack,
By Saffron Dust (Venice, Italy) - See all my reviews

When I finished watching the movie, I was very touched. The film itself is amazingly gentle, it pours candlelight on so many issues of adult life - and teenage life, too - in context of different mentalities, attitudes, psychological proclivities, it is an all-around beautiful film with many a conclusion to draw. A large part of the film's appeal is based on the soundtrack which I found amazingly deep, profound in a non-imposing sort of way. There is sadness of human condition, trial and error, plight and flight of the human spirit, and all of it fits on a CD! I had watched the movie several times, but only now I realized that music is such an important thread in the fabric of this film that I absolutely have to get the soundtrack that holds its own separately from the film as well. Musicians did an amazing job on putting together something so tender and humane, and so fitting with the movie. I LOVE this soundtrack!

melancholy,
By xmasthecat "xmasthecat" (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews

Not to be confused with a straight-up Underworld album, it's very mellow and certainly in a soundtrack vein -- background music -- but it retains the melancholy that often makes their best work so good. It's a haunting album, quite lovely, induces nostalgia in me just by the hearing of it. The melancholy of life slipping by in small ways. In fact it affected me so much I began watching the movie hoping it would evoke the same amount of emotion; it didn't.
