5.0 out of 5 stars Submission is the name of the game. Love is the goal
I was drawn in by the great review and the tag lines. "I wasn't a slave. I was a willing participant" I have read Kim Corum before 'The Other Woman' and I wasn't all that impressed but this book was different.

The Gradual progression of one woman and one man into the life style of Dominance and Submission all in the name of love. I'm not sure whatelse to say except...

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible BDSM story
There are people who work in the anti-violence movement who have created the Power and Control Wheel to describe common areas of abuse. There are eight spokes in this wheel, and the relationship described in this book embodies seven of them. It's as though the author looked at the wheel and made certain to include all areas of abuse: emotional, intimidation, coercion,...

I'm not sure whatelse to say except WOW. This book was hot. I had a few moments in the book when I thought this is not BDSM but real abuse but it all ties together at the end of the book. Since the book is a first person tale from Kristin's point of view you don't get a chance to find out what's going through Frank's head.

You don't actually get to know any history on the characters until you are way into the book but from the get go you can feel apart of them from their actions and conversation or lack of. I did enjoy this book much better than the last Kim Corum book I read. This story flowed much better.

Even though this is a BDSM story it really is just a LOVE STORY.

If you like lite BDSM and unusual love stories with lots of great sex you'll like this book. Also this is a quick read only 200 pages.

when i first looked at the book i thought neah this won't be good, but when i started reading it, it blew me away. if your into bondage, and the man taking all control of you, this is a book that will press your buttons. very good, it brought my imagination to life. I read this book over and over again. You'll love the different places. the domination that she doesn't really know is taking place. It is just one of those books that you can't put down when you start to get into it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I submit to this book!, November 29, 2002
This review is from: Breaking the Girl (Paperback)
Breaking the Girl is one of the most intense and decadent books I have ever read! The story of a couple whose kinky games of domination and submission take over their lives is one of eroticism and suspense. I love how believable the characters are. I also love the fact that the book is set in New Orleans -- a city that's always fascinated me. I have become intrigued by this brand of erotica -- BDSM -- and this book is as good as it gets...

5.0 out of 5 stars If I could give this book 10 stars, I would, April 18, 2007
This review is from: Breaking the Girl (Paperback)
My eyeballs were burning, cause I could not put this book down. It was so damn good. I'm a freaky gal in bed anyways and when I read this it struck a cord inside me. After I finished this book I sent it to my husband in Iraq and believe me, when he came home on R&R we had some fun. The book has HOT sex, great story, and it just flows. And I love Frank! I dream about that man, he loves her so much. At the end, I was just moved by the love between them. BUY THIS BOOK...NOW!

4.0 out of 5 stars Bravo!, August 14, 2004

Me being curious as to what all the fuss is about when it comes to being submissive was truly impressed with this book. I like most can't relate to indivduals that are into pain. But as I read "Breaking the Girl" I have a whole new outlook on what being submissive is all about. I recommend this book to those that have an interest in submission. Like someone once told me, you can't knock it until you've tried it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly erotic SM., July 2, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Breaking the Girl (Paperback)
This book is about a path most of us wouldn't dare take--down the road of SM. While the character seems hesitant at first, the more she gets into it, the steamier the book gets. Most novels in this vein can't hold onto the eroticism after the first few chapters, but this one manages to.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love Frank!!, October 11, 2005
This review is from: Breaking the Girl (Paperback)
I just read the book this afternoon in one sitting and loved it! I completely fell in love with Frank. Despite his dominant nature, his heart was still very vulnerable. I just wanted to nestle into his arms and love him and protect him forever. The second to the last chapter even made me cry.

I also liked how it was rather "light" on the BDSM elements. The games they played, while very erotic, seemed milder than those portrayed in many other books. The focus wasn't on weird, sadistic acts of pain, but on their love and need for one another. It was, at heart, a love story.

The only thing that I didn't particularly care for were certain aspects of Kristine's personality. I just had a hard time relating to her character in some ways. I'm more of a shy, modest girl and had difficulty relating to the whole stripper, drinking, partying scene...and her indignation to some of Frank's actions. I just would have reacted differently had I been in her place. Also, her diction didn't seem very lady-like. Some words in her narration just seemed a little unclassy to me. Her character works great with the story, and she was very likeable, but I do think I would have enjoyed the book a bit more if I'd been able to relate to her better.

Anyway, excellent book. I highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking submission into another realm, March 26, 2004

This book was absolutely incredible, I could not put it down. Moment to moment I had similar flashes into my own life and deeply planted issues. The author portrayed a road that many of us do not dare go down. By the time you finish this book you will ask yourself why you haven't gone down this path, is it really the social fear of what others might think or is it due to the fear of losing oneself in the submission to another. Absolutely incredible, hot, steamy, thought-provoking book.

4.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't tear my eyes away, February 8, 2006

Received this book in the mail tonight and truely didn't mean to start reading it. I just started flipping through the pages, fully thinking it would be something I would read for this coming weekend. But no Kim Corum dragged me into this story from the first page and wouldn't let me go. There was only one scene I was truely uncomfortable with and that was the section titled Bad Girl. I feel it really crossed the line. A woman vomiting from a spanking definitely means stop. In fantasy land, fine. But in reality if your girl is doing all this to get away STOP. You could go to jail. Other than that, the rest of the book was riveting and thoroughly entertaining.

But I did! This was my first reading foray into BDSM and I must say that I liked it. I enjoyed it enough to plan to check out the other books by the author.

Definitely a hot read.
