Excellent material and reference content,

This review is from: Breaking the Godspell (Future Is Now Series) (Paperback)
I have been interested in Zechariah Sitchin's books since I read The Twelfth Planet. Mr. Freer has enlarged on this premise by including corresponding information from a variety of sources from past and current material. Although the book is written more from an intellectual stance than with layman's verbiage, it is a Fascinating read. One you should have in your library.

Churchmen SHOULD Pay Attention to Freer.,
This review is from: Breaking the Godspell (Future Is Now Series) (Paperback)
My first attempt to get this book included in a bibliography for persons interested in how to help institutional religion turn the corner into the coming millennium was unsuccessful. The compiler's excuse was that "archeological material is subject to interpretation."Freer knows that Zechariah Sitchin's interpretation is masterful when he shows readers just how much the pharoahs knew--that we imagine was "discovered" in the last 100 years. Freer is a perfect student of Sitchin's. He reads out the implications of facing a realization that astronaut "gods" (from Nibiru) engineered the Adam and Eve whose genetic tracers all humanity has carried for more than 200,000 years. Archeology is fast becoming a "futures" science...as the orbit of Nibiru brings it back toward our planet. Some suppose we will live long enough to see it through a telescope. Others fear its "ships" will precede it. Let your children learn Sumerian, if they won't memorize Sitchin and cherish Freer.

I realized a few years back that I had been indoctrinated in ways that was difficult to recognize. Reading this book helped to "break the spell" that has been on me since I was a child. If you really understand what Freer is saying you quickly realize that this information rewrites a history that is in dire need of being rewritten.

Good book, but too academic,
By Miz Bejabbers (Little Rock, AR USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Breaking the Godspell: The Politics of Our Evolution (Paperback)
I bought this book and read it several years ago and am just now getting around to reviewing it. Since the other reviews have done excellent work in describing what Mr. Freer has authored, I won't go into that part. I will say that I agree with his opinion that the old controlling beliefs must go. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is written too academically. Why use $5.00 words? Is his target audience science and academia?
I have a masters degree in journalism but would have found it easier reading if I had a doctorate in psychology. I would like to see this book made required reading in high school, but it would have to be rewritten for that. I think a lot of people will find his academic style intimidating, or at best, boring.

Neil Freer is an amazing writer. Although you may need a dictionary to get thru some of the chapters, He ties together all the Sitchin theories with the confidence of an educated man. If you are a fan of Sitchin's work this is a MUST READ!

Excellent exposure of the Godspell placed upon us many years ago,
This review is from: Breaking the Godspell: The Politics of Our Evolution (Paperback)
Breaking the Godspell is an excellent parallel to Sitchin's concepts and ideas. The author is very intelligent and provides an important message for all of us. For too long we have been brainwashed and it is about time we considered other alternatives to the history we have been led to believe is true. Although the book is "heavy" reading, the message contained within the book is well worth sticking to the book until the end.

After having read Z. Sitchins works I gave a lot of thought to what they meant in terms of culture, religion, philosophy, science.
Freer integrates all of this and explains how religion still fuels collective guilt and inhibits human awarness today. Freer states that the cultural and psychological development of the hybrid humans was directly related to the personalities of the Nefilim they were subject to. Some of them like Inanna sought to help them develop and others like Yahweh were more into control and subjugation. When the geneticist (symbol serpent) Enki decided to make it possible for man to reproduce, not from pity but from a need for more servants than cloning could supply. Enki also exposed Yahweh's lie that if the couple attained knowing they would die. Yahweh had a tantrum and expelled them from his garden. I assume he pulled his own weeds from then on? I found this book more interesting and thoughtful than Sitchin who i love. Sitchin never developed his themes just reported them. Read his works before reading this as Freer answers the questions that come up in your mind regarding Sitchin. I wish Freer had a blog, it would really be a neat place to swap speculations.

Maybe our ancestoral cultural perceptions about contact with advanced beings in early middle eastern legend was based on too much fear and awe. Too many may have bought the argument that these beings needed to be worshipped instead of just respected. Then somewhere along the line, "elohim" turned into one single god of one name or another, depending on which version you buy. Maybe our cultural historical interpretation by various religions of our need to "be saved" is just based on misunderstanding of some perplexing contact with advanced beings from somewhere else??? Lots of ideas to consider here with an open mind. If you don't totally buy the old fear-based religious propaganda that you need to do x x x x and pay x x x x to be saved in the "proper" or "most true" religion, you will enjoy this good analysis greatly!!! Probably long past overdue that we take responsibility for our own lifetime actions and choices instead of trying to get vicarious atonement, or whatever!!!(As ye sow, so shall ye reap). Give it a look!!!! Great analysis fortified by Zecharia Sitchin's in-depth work on the legends from ancient Sumeria and environs around. Strengthens the old adage "the kingdom is within"!! We've met and heard this author and he is a very responsible, thoughtful person. Highly recommended.

Making the GodSpell.,
This review is from: Breaking the Godspell: The Politics of Our Evolution (Paperback)
One more [...] display of pseudo-intellectual egoism, which [some] would insist holds the key to human salvation... last month it was shamanism. This book is [...], clumsily wrapped in the pages of a dictionary to make it seem important. It is not a work of science; it is not even good fiction. It is simply a feely-good extension of the [pseudo]-science offered during the 1970s in books like Chariots of the Gods. If you are a new age miracle seeker, who enjoys fruitless indulgence in ideological [...], then this book is for you. Otherwise, don't waste your time; there are better ways of burning your brain cells [...].
