Inspiring Story,
By Brian Allan (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Breaking the Perfect 10 (Hardcover)
This is an inspiring story that so many can relate to. Author Tracy Melchior is very honest about her extremely dysfunctinal upbringing (when she was young, she and her sister were left for weeks at home alone!) and how those set the stage for many bad choices as an adult. Kudos to the author for being so transparent about her shortcomings over the years. I feel like I know her after reading this book.

With God's Help Recovery from Sex Addiction,
This review is from: Breaking the Perfect 10 (Hardcover)
Breaking The Perfect 10 by Tracy Lindsey Melchior with Susan Wales is the autobiography of a young woman who was abandoned many times in childhood and grew up feeling unloved and unprotected. Tracy, who later became a daytime TV star of the Bold and the Beautiful, One Life to Live, and Sunset Beach, details many of the troubles of her childhood and teen years and describes how she learned to seek love in all the wrong places and became a relationship addict. Her book is about the triumph she achieved over her derelict life when she became a Christian and some friends walked her through the Bible. She shares her experiences in the hope of helping others who may have similar problems or lifestyles. The book is well written.

My wife bought this book and I read it in one night! The transparent honesty with which she writes is truly courageous. The story was compelling, inspiring and almost unbelievable. If you are a person with suffering or abuse in your background and are looking for the strength to keep going, this book will surely point you in the right direction.

Oh how I applaud Tracy's honesty. I can not tell you how similar our stories are of our pasts. Not only the stories of our pasts, but also how we dealt with the past. I am discovering more and more about myself and about human nature as I grow in truth/Christ. Learning about Tracy's courageous journey to deal with the pains from her past, and seeing her committment to God and His purposes, is just motivating and inspiring to me for my own growth. Awesome!

Tracy's story really struck a nerve and I see so much of myself in her and her story. I do not believe she tried to sensationalize her life at all. She reveals warts and all and as far as other viewers questioning her bringing up her past sins because she is forgiven is absurd. The story needs to be about sins to show how much she needed a savior. The story needs to show the abuse to show how much she needed to forgive; the way Christ forgives us.
I was just like Tracy a pretty picture on the outside strggling in the acting field, wanting acceptance and love because of the abuse and the hate I had on the inside.Making horrible decisions based on dysfunction. You would be suprised how many emotionally damaged individuals are insatiably drawn into this line of work. I commend Tracy for her brutal honesty, and her story that does have a powerful impact on believers and those who are struggling to find their way. I think she especially speaks to so many young women who are so much like her but by the power of Christ are given a second chance.

A Profile in Courage - A Perfect 10 Bares All,
By
This review is from: Breaking the Perfect 10 (Hardcover)
Tracy Lindsey Melchior is a gutsy lady. In telling her painful past and sharing her wondeful present, this amazingly attractive woman has gone and painted a big red target on her back and taken a walk in the shooting gallery of envy.
Tracy's bio is a rare look inside the life of a Hollywood hottie. Rarer still because its an honest, warts and all account with a happy ending. I could not put it down and now my wife and me have just one question - when's the movie? By all means - buy this book!

For Tracy Lindsey Melchior fans,
This review is from: Breaking the Perfect 10 (Hardcover)
At first glance, Tracy Lindsey Melchior appeared to have it all. An up and coming career that included roles on popular television shows, such as The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, One Life to Live, Sunset Beach, and My So-Called Life, a supportive family, and a strong faith in God. Upon closer inspection many would be surprised to learn of the neglect that she endured throughout her childhood, the drug and alcohol abuse she struggled to overcome, and the promiscuous lifestyle she had to abandon in order to follow God.
Nevertheless, the book is unorganized and downright frustrating to read. It was disappointing to find that there was not much depth to the story, especially considering its vast potential. At various parts of the book, the author randomly inserts Bible passages that are not utilized well, but seemed to be included simply to take up space or to make the book sound religious. Most disturbing was that by the end, the reader is left with more questions than answers. This book offers nothing new: the main character may be different, but the storyline is like other books in its category. I would not recommend this book to anyone except Tracy Lindsey Melchior fans. -- Audrey Wagel, Christian Book Previews.com

Horrid,
By Forever Reading "Amanda" (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Breaking the Perfect 10 (Hardcover)
I am Amanda Redding from Chicago, Ill. I must say, I find it plain wierd that people write 'tell all' books when they are Christians. But maybe Tracy Melchoir is hard up for cash? I so wish she had spent more time glorifying God instead of making a written record of all her sins. Someone please remind Tracy that once you're saved, your sins are tossed away as far as the east is from the west;they are no more. Yet she tells us them in sensational graphic detail. Why does Tracy and Susan Wales go fishing to reel them back and then serve it up for us to read? I bought this book thinking it would spiritually lift me, but it sank me. I am embarrassed for them both. By the way girls, I can recommend a good editor. You both need one! That's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back.

Book category should be fiction, little girl lost or just looking for a job?,

This review is from: Breaking the Perfect 10 (Hardcover)
Seems like Tracy decided to place blame in lieu of better decision making throughout her life, then traded her family, friends and acquaintances for sensationalism by writing this book(there's a better way to get a job). [...] Seems like the only time she incorporated anyone into her life is when she wanted something. There is a great deal of embellishment when it comes to wedding dress style, her home, parties etc. (materialist things) than on the critical points to turning someones life around. This book is loaded typographical errors, missing time lines, and sadly embellishment on half truth. [...] I'm sorry I wasted my money on the book. How sad that this woman is still chosing to place blame and use the people who love her dearly to attract attention to herself. A woman once told me "God doesn't like ugly" and "Happiness is wanting what you have rather than what you don't have". I just wish Tracy wouldn't have used religion as a means to try and gain fame.
