Book Description

This is the first published anthology of ritual abuse survivors' accounts of their lives and healing paths. Men and women from all walks of life, gay and straight, ranging in age from twenty to over sixty, from the States, Canada, and abroad, tell what is in their hearts. It is not an easy book to read, for the accounts were not easy to write, nor are the authors' lives easy to live. The contributors write with hope, determination, courage in the face of overwhelming fear, and the beauty of their souls shines through their words.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

"Why is it so important for survivors to write their histories? By speaking out, we shatter the silence in which abuse thrives. We stop running and turn to face our greatest fears.

Our courage astonishes even us and our strength rises. The power of our grief, our anger, our compassion for our own pain infuses us. We know we are sacred. We honor life.

Thank you for an important work."

from the preface by Chrystine Oksana

Things are not always what they appear to be. Survivors may not look or feel or act like those most likely to succeed in our society, but it is survivors who are transforming the consciousness of society. Each step in recovery, like each step up the Grand Canyon, is very, very hard. Yet each recovery step, no matter how seemingly minute, brings us closer to a planet where the power of love triumphs over the love of power.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable affirmation for survivors, education for others, December 3, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Breaking Ritual Silence: An Anthology of Ritual Abuse Survivors' Stories (Paperback)
The first anthology of its kind, this book brings together dozens of essays from ritual abuse survivors. It is an amazing representation of both the common themes and the specific emotions of ritual torture and the ways that women and men have managed to live through it. Survivors will find a reflection of their own experience, and those who know little or nothing about ritual abuse will hear a message that they will never forget. I am in awe of the courage behind and within this book.

This review is from: Breaking Ritual Silence: An Anthology of Ritual Abuse Survivors' Stories (Paperback)
It is not so often that ritual abuse survivors are heard. In this book they are. They tell us about their lifes, the torture they had been subjected to, and their fight to survive. Everyone who want to know about this hidden holocaust should read this book. The editors and all those who writes here has done a great job.
