Rule Seven: Never Sleep with Anyone You Represent

Charity Marks lives her life with a personal set of rules that she never breaks—and for a good reason. After getting fired from her job in Southern California, she takes a job in the tiny town of Broken Branch as a public relations expert for the Professional Rodeo Riders Association.

Clay Cooper is the PRRA's hottest star and wildest bad boy. When Charity goes to talk to him about toning down his ways, she is surprised to find that there is more to the cowboy than meets the eye. Will the oh-so-delicious Clay be the death of rule number seven?

3.0 out of 5 stars *Facepalm*! June 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"Everything inside Charity's head screamed for her to run from Clay. To keep her wits about her, do her job, and stick to her personal code of conduct."
For a person like me, this would be a simple decision. She didn't care about what the little voice in her head was telling her, because there was a louder one coming from down south, Screaming "Rule number seven be darned!"
"Charity could feel her carefully orchestrated world crumbling as she stripped her jeans off, exposing her long legs and a seductive BLACK LACE THONG."?
Okay, from here is where the story lost me. Lets be serious. I personally am a slave to fashion, but if I had to book it out of my house in the middle of the night to rescue some dude, I would dress accordingly.
Fact: women don't wear tiny, black, lace thongs unless they want them seen.
Charity had to have been subconsciously plotting the debunking of this drunkard at some point that night.
Simply absurd.
On top of that, she willingly threw herself into bed with a guy who would have clearly used her up and tossed her away like trash when he was done. What kind of self respecting woman would risk her livelihood to do that to herself?
Granted, it's a short story, so we have to throw morals, substance, depth, development and commons sense out the window when writing one of these books. And although the story was well written, it still lacked substance.
And it was sure lucky for Charity that Dude was a tad bit more decent then she was. LOL!
I can't like a story, if I can't respect the characters in it. Therefore, this one is not on my list of top reads. Sorry, but no.

Charity an Clay thrown together by friends who knew they were meant for each other. They used the time to find out they were supposed to be together. This is a quick read.

Hard to write a review when the story is so short, but definitely liked it. Will check out some of her other books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but too short March 2, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Cute, but would have enjoyed more of a story. This novella was really a shirt tease. I almost felt like it was a sales pitch story.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't pay money for it February 24, 2014

Meh... Book lacked EVERYTHING. No backbone... no 'meat'... I like a book that can make me empathize with the characters. This wasn't one that had me drawn in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good but short story February 18, 2014

the story was very good, but I wish that it had been longer. I would have liked to read more about how they were slowly heading toward a life together.
