5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent collection, July 4, 2010
This review is from: Breaks Blues & Boogies (Audio CD)
This is an exceptional collection of the best of Vic Dickenson and 1940s Jazzmen. He plays with all the greats: Lester Young, Benny Carter, Edmond Hall, Don Byas, James Johnson, Coleman Hawkins, Louis Armstrong, Ben Webster, Albert Ammons, Barney Bigard, and Dodo Marmarosa. An amazing lineup of talent in small combos; you cannot do better. I own about 5 Topaz Jazz collections - all sound great, liner notes are superb, and selection is the best. The Johnny Hodges collection is exquisite.
