5.0 out of 5 stars Run little Gay Erkel run!
This movie is urban slapstick at it's best. Just as Friday was, The Breaks is a classic. Although it may never get the props it deserves. I hadn't even heard of this movie, and might not even know about it if I hadn't caught it on at a friends house, she told me it was "really good" so I sat and watched it. She was on point, I am so glad I got exposed to this movie. It's...

3.0 out of 5 stars Break it down
This was a cute movie. Light heartedly spoofs black street culture as seen thru the eyes of a white boy raised by a black family. While this is no "Jerk" it had its funny moments.
A special appearance by funk legend George Clinton in a jailhouse seen that has a cute black knowledge Q&A game show segment.
Many movies are spoofed along the way. Most notably,...

It's so funny, there were more times then I can remember in it where I was laughing out loud. It's scene after scene of stupid antics & at times gross humor. The scene with the 2 prostitutes had me dying! Mitch Malany is great in it, I think it would have been funny even if a "brother" had played the lead role. The writing is just that good, but the fact it's a white boy in the hood makes it that much better. He pulls off the white who think's he's black role with perfection. I also love how clueless he comes across. The entire cast is funny, and there is definitely chemistry between them. Renaldo Ray as Dereks (Mitch) Uncle, all I can say is wow! I can only hope there is a sequal. Well only if can follow in the steps on this one. I can't see a 2nd one possibly being better, this is one of those movies that was done right in every aspect.

I first saw this movie when I was in bed getting ready to fall asleep when i turned to this movie a little past 15 minutes after the start. But from then, I never stopped laughing. It was funny as hell. Then I had to see it again so I went out and rented it, but it wasn't as funny as the first time, maybe cause I wasn't tired, but no matter what, this is one of the funniest movies of all time. ONly problem is I can't find it anywhere except online. But this one will be in my DVD collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly Funny!, November 27, 2002

My husband caught this on cable late one night and laughed his ... off telling about it the next day. He could barely discribe the "Kill whitey meeting" scene. It sounded so funny that I went out and rented it and I was on the floor the whole time. The only people who wouldn't like this are people who take things too seriously or people who can't get past the main character is white. I did and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend it wholeheartedly. I will be a one woman ad campaign and tell all my peeps about this one. How come no one knows about this movie?

Man, this movie is awesome. I have been looking for it forever ever since I saw it late night on HBO. If you liked Friday, or All About the Benjimins, you are going to love this flick. The white dude is so funny in the way he acts, talks, and eats like a black man. You should at least rent it or give it a try. I was amazed that no one ever talked about it or even saw it. So check it out if your into a lot of laughs.

A complete suprise! I didn't know anything about this movie at all. After I saw it my stomach hurt so bad from laughing! It was complete comedy throughout the whole movie. If you liked the "Friday" series, you'll definitely love this one!

If you dig family guy, the simpsons, duckman and the scary movie series you'll love this movie. Part Friday, part Boys in the Hood, Part Sanford and Son, part PCU. This a great flick very underrated. I laughted from begining to end.

I absolutely loved this movie; it's hilarious. If you like funny then The Breaks is a MUST see. The characters are great, the filming is great, the directing is great. I have nothing negative to say about this movie, in fact, it was so good....I'm going to buy it to add to my video library.

5.0 out of 5 stars A funny Movie!, January 3, 2003
This review is from: The Breaks (DVD)
I recommend this to my customers who like "Friday" or "How High".
It is a fast paced comedy about guy who gets kicked out of his house by his mother. The only way she will let him come home is if he can get just one thing right, and that is for him to bring a gallon of milk home. Simple enough, but that's when the fun comes in....
Give "The Breaks" a try, and have a laugh. Don't watch if you are offended by bad lauguage or ranchy humor. :)
