5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT TOTAL BODY WORKOUT
This is probably my new favorite Pilates tape. Clocking in at 40 min. this works you out from tip to toe. Previous Pilates experience is recommended. Most tapes work the core and lower body, with this you get some challenging upper body work. There are some push-up variations as well as a bridge exercise where you are up on your elbows and alternate leg lifts. It...

2.0 out of 5 stars My Least Favorite Pilates Video
I have been practicing Pilates for two years and own eight Pilates videos. What I have enjoyed the most about Pilates is the serenity and fluidity that goes along with the teachings. If you have never tried Pilates you may like this tape however, if you have been accustomed to the quiet teachings and svelte instructors this video may not be to your liking. In my...

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT TOTAL BODY WORKOUT, May 26, 2001
This review is from: Breakthru: Core Conditioning Pilates [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is probably my new favorite Pilates tape. Clocking in at 40 min. this works you out from tip to toe. Previous Pilates experience is recommended. Most tapes work the core and lower body, with this you get some challenging upper body work. There are some push-up variations as well as a bridge exercise where you are up on your elbows and alternate leg lifts. It works everything. Also, there's an exercise on your back, where you rotate an imaginary ball with your legs. That really works the abs. The instructors are very informative and give explicit direction "imagine your spine in a C shape", "pull the navel back to the spine". At this price you get more than your money's worth.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Non-intimidating Pilates Workout, February 4, 2003
By A Customer
I discovered pilates not long ago and was impressed by Michelle Dozois who was the instructor in "Pilates for Dummies". When I saw that she was one of the instructors in this new DVD I ordered it without hesitation. I was not disappointed. The poses are simple but effective, and definitely non-intimidating. The instructions are clear. The pace is just right. You don't have to be a super-fit person to do these exercises.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Instructional Video for Pilates Core-Conditioning, November 2, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Breakthru: Core Conditioning Pilates [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you are new to Pilates, this is a great place to start! Michelle and Tracy thoroughly explain each exercise in a relaxed and unintimidating manner. Being new to exercise, and not being very flexible or coordinated, I am looking forward to a more leaner, toned, and conditioned body. While this video is longer than many of the Pilates videos (45 min.), it is well worth it! This is the ultimate pre-pilates video for strengthening the core muscles and conditioning and stretching the whole body. Michelle also does the "Pilates for Dummies" video which will probably be the next video I add to my collection!

2.0 out of 5 stars My Least Favorite Pilates Video, June 23, 2001
This review is from: Breakthru: Core Conditioning Pilates [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have been practicing Pilates for two years and own eight Pilates videos. What I have enjoyed the most about Pilates is the serenity and fluidity that goes along with the teachings. If you have never tried Pilates you may like this tape however, if you have been accustomed to the quiet teachings and svelte instructors this video may not be to your liking. In my opinion this video lacks fluidity and concentration which are essential components in Pilates. Although the instructos do offer several movements I have never done I was afraid to bulk up like the instructors so I figured it was best for me to stay with my tried and true Pilates teachings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Improve your posture and lose that tummy!, July 19, 2004
By A Customer
After having a baby I tried aerobics and weight training but just couldn't lose that stubborn fat around my mid section, within a few weeks of using breaktrough core conditioning pilates I noticed that I was losing my tummy, and as a bonus my posture was improving. I also had less lower back pain from the improved posture.

I gave my tape to a friend and am ordering a replacement copy for myself.

This is a great tape for someone who is able to do an aerobic workout, but if you are looking for something hardcore, this isn't the tape.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner by these instructors, March 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Breakthru: Core Conditioning Pilates [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I love this series. Non-intimidating instruction with several modifications for those less flexible/strong. This is a great tape to start after Michelle's Pilates for Dummies. Its not too long and gives you just enough for the nice burn in your core. A winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great beginning, August 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Breakthru: Core Conditioning Pilates [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is my first Pilates tape. I have numerous yoga tapes, and enjoy them, but wanted to try some Pilates exercises to round out my workout routine. Both instructors are easy to understand, and offer less demanding moves as alternatives. This is always a big plus. Very careful thought went into to the instruction, as the explaination can be followed with little "watching" so you aren't craining your neck to see what is going on as much as with other exercise videos.

There are some familiar positions to yogis on this tape, plank position, downward dog, and a variation of cobra positions. So if you are familiar with yoga, you can look forward to something that is known to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars CHALLENGING & GREAT WORKOUT, May 17, 2004
By A Customer
I bought this about three weeks ago and have been practicing it three times a week. I love it!!! This is the first time I do Pilates. I would say that you need a strong abs to do the exercise but nothing that you can't build on over time. I started to lift light weight for four months already and happy to say that I could actually do the push-up exercise even though it's still challenging.

The only thing I wish they explain more is the breathing during the exercise. As a beginner, I tend to get confused on when to exhale or inhale. I would definitely look for more dvd series from these two people.

4.0 out of 5 stars Liked the workout, not boring., January 29, 2006

After doing the Windsor Pilates for about a year, I decided to try someone different. I have done Tracey York's workouts in the past and found them challenging but not impossible with repeat workouts. The presentation was slow at times but they can be fast forwarded. I really liked the workout and felt it was more targeted than the Windsor's. I will be trying some of the other workouts. Tracey and Michelle worked well together and taking turns made it easier to get to "know" both the instructors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Challenging Pilates Workout, March 30, 2004
By
A. Vegan (Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This video is not recommended for beginners. I've been doing yoga for over a year and Pilates for a few months and I found this video to be a bit of a challenge. You really need to have strong abs to perform the workout here. The workout is about 30 minutes long but it's long enough to get a decent workout. This Pilates workout focuses on one's core: the stomach, back, and buns. The exercises target these muscle groups in a series of no-impact workouts that allow one to tone muscles, flatten abs, and improve posture. This is one video I'll be adding to my collection.
