Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Since the recent furor about breast implants, there has been a greater demand for information on this subject than ever before. Unfortunately, as Bruning points out, the research has been patchy at best. Her excellent book answers all the questions for which we have answers at this time in a straightforward style that will be easy for lay readers to understand. She describes the types of implants that have been used, the problems that have been discovered to date, and the risks involved in removal vs. leaving them in. For a woman contemplating implants, she describes current implant and transplantation technology. An excellent bibliography and list of information and support organizations are appended. Highly recommended for public libraries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breast Implants: Everything you need to know, March 26, 2004
By A Customer
I found this book to be the most comprehensive, current, and unbiased information on the subject of breast implants. I helped me make some very important decisions regarding my health and impending surgery.

I thank the author for her continued research on this subject. Many of us were sold untruthful information regarding implants years ago, and made decisions based on that. Many of us have had health issues since then.

Nancy keeps updating her books, adding any new information. She is one of the very few that empathizes with women who have found themselves in this health-threatening delemma. She stresses both the pros and cons of these surgeries.

I recommend this book to anyone who is considering having breast implant surgery, and also, to those who already have, and who will be needing removal or replacement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Resource for Women Considering Implants, January 15, 2010

Kaitlin (San Francisco) - See all my reviews
THis book was the best of the number of books I read before deciding to get implants. It was informative without seeming biased and even when presenting the possible dangers of implants the author is even-handed and doesn't try to scare the reader. After reading it I felt I had just sat and had a very thorough discussion with a well-informed expert on the subject. She answered all of my questions and added some info I wouldn't have even known to ask which -- given that I researched the subject for almost a year before getting this book -- was a surprise to me. It was well-worth the purchase in any number of ways. The information was useful and appreciated but reading it also provided a calm and unemotional context within which I could make up my own mind.
