Marie Biancuzzo spent six years as the breastfeeding and lactation coordinator at the University of Rochester Medical Center with a joint appointment to the faculty at the University of Rochester School of Nursing in Rochester, New York. She is currently a clinical instructor at Georgetown University School of Nursing, Washington, D.C. Prior to these appointments, she practiced as a staff nurse for many years in all areas of perinatal nursing.

Miss Biancuzzo has won national recognition for her expertise in the perinatal field. She served as a content expert for the national RN licensure examination (NCLEX) and is a reviewer for the Journal of Women's Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN), the American Journal of Nursing and various publishers. She is also certified by the American Nurses Association as a continuing education specialist. Miss Biancuzzo has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals on topics including breastfeeding, labor/delivery, and competency-based education. A sought-after consultant and gifted speaker, she has made many national presentations for several organizations, including the National Perinatal Association, ASPO/Lamaze, and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, & Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).
