Editorial Reviews

Review

"This is a text which will no doubt be accessed principally by midwives and neonatal nurses, but the successful establishment and maintenance of breastfeeding is far more likely to prosper when all health care providers are singing from the same hymn sheet, and I would strongly commend that it is read by all those who involved in the process including paediatricians, health visitors, GP s and paediatric nurses and others."www.withwoman.co.uk --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

I bought this book searching for information on breastfeeding my premature infant. Most breastfeeding books only devote a paragraph, or at most a few pages, to this topic. I was excited to find a whole book on the topic, but sadly disappointed when it arrived, as the book is clearly meant as a textbook for NICU nurses. It provides information on topics in list form, referring to the patient and parents as third-party participants. It uses medical terms and offers very brief descriptions of techniques. I was looking for practical advice, but this wasn't it.
