~*~*~Much safter than regular bumpers, peace of mind~*~*~,
This review is from: BreathableBaby Crib Bumper for Slatted Cribs - Pink (Baby Product)
After a couple of times looking into my daughters cribs and finding them sleeping with their face smooshed righ up against their traditional bumper and almost having a heart attack while picking them up to make sure they were still breathing, I decided to take off their bumpers.Their cribs are slatted all the way around and I soon learned that no bumper was just as unsafe as having one. Both of my girls got their arms & legs stuck ALL the time. Since I was so worried about them getting stuck I came in their room at every little peep and was sleeping on egg shells. Thankfully I did because one night my daughter started crying and I rushed in to find her with her right arm sticking out the side of the crib and she was FACE DOWN and unable to push herself up off of her face with only her left arm because her right arm was stuck outside of the slat and could not push against anything. That was something I never wanted to happen again and thankfully I was going into their room at every little peep. Both of my daughters ended up doing that again the next day while my husband was at work. So I decided once my husband got home we were going to the store and buying some right away. They were very easy to put on and fit our cribs great. There are a few spaces were there is a gap but they are in the corners and not where my daughters would get their arms stuck while sleeping. FINALLY my daughters were not getting their arms or legs stuck! I also did come in a few times to find them sleeping with their faces smooshed right up against this mesh bumper but I didn't almost have a heart attack like with the regular bumper because I had tested it out myself and saw how easily it is to breathe through. I also like that if my daughters try to stand on these to get themselves out, it crumbles and they are not able to get out. And even though these are breathable they are still soft, my daughters have hit their heads a few times and it didn't hurt. After having these I was finally able to get a good nights sleep. If I had to do it all over again I would have ONLY purchased these and not a regular bumper. Hospitals tell you not to have a bumper in your babys crib and just because a regular bumper might match your bedding & be "really cute" that isn't worth risking your babys safety.

Had to do something!,

My little (BIG) baby buckled her bassinet by 12 wks old!!! So we had to move her into her crib sooner than I wanted. So, I ordered the breathable bumper because other bumpers are NOT safe or recommended for cribs (ask your doctor about it).It was easy to install. I followed the picture and made adjustments for the differences in my crib and the pictured crib. I bought my crib at Target (I can't remember the name) it does NOT have a drop down side. The two breathable panels were a pretty shade of pink, not too bright. They fit perfectly in the crib. I did not have any open areas remaining when finished. The panels overlapped a little on the sides. The only area that could be considered open is where the breathable panel weaves behind the slats (this is only in the corners, see item picture). This has not created a problem yet. The only problem I can see would be hitting her head on those slats (she loves to scoot around the crib when kicking) but the bumper only helps with that a little anyway since it is not padded. The bumper works best for keeping hands and feet inside the crib. I have also pulled the mattress in and out and changed the sheets without taking the bumper off. I just have to tug it gently back into place. I'm glad I bought it. I haven't found anything better out there and I wouldn't use a padded or decorative bumper ever in her crib. Other stores have it cheaper online, but with Amazon's free shipping, it works out as a better deal. Also, Amazon was the only place I found the bumper in pink!

Finally a breathable bumper taller than 11 inches!,

I ordered this with fingers crossed... and was so happy when it arrived and I saw it is taller than the standard 11 inch bumper. The manufacturer should list the measurements somewhere in the post... this product is worth the few extra dollars to avoid injury with slatted cribs. It is easy to install however it does slip down so I used some double sided tape (easily removed with goo-gone when I remove the bumper in a few months) at each corner to to keep it in place. The color is a brighter pink. The material is soft. My daughter hasn't gotten her leg stuck once since I installed this product! Thanks!

Nuk Trapper,

I originally bought this product for my active 6 month old. She was constantly getting her limbs caught in the crib rails. After putting in the crib, I realized it is also a great tool for trapping her Nuk when it falls out of her mouth during the night. I wish I would have purchased this item for my first daughter who is now 2! Well worth the money.

This is one of my favorite baby items! It is so much safer than other bumpers and it much cheaper! I love it and would recommend it to any parent! Such an easy way to keep your baby safe and comfortable while they sleep.

I was able to get my breathable bumper on the secondary market. I bought TWO nursery sets for my daughter at consignement stores. I loved the regular bumpers for them. However, I kept reading about safety and the concern over regular bumpers. Oh well.My little one slept for over 5 months in a travel crib in my bedroom but the time came when she needed to be in her own room in her crib. I was concerned that she would bump her head on the bars of the crib so I didn't want to put her in there with nothing. I saw this at a store and thought "What a great idea!" After finding it at the consignment store, washing it and putting it in her crib I noticed a few things I wasn't too keen about. When you 'install' it you have to pull really, really hard to make sure there is no slack in the bumper. It's tighter and seems safe but it isn't as tight as I would like it to be. Another thing is that the corners are a little exposed because this comes in two pieces. One part is for the front of the crib and the other section is for the other three sides. Every corner is still covered but I like the way other bumpers are able to cover all sections and still allow the usage of its drop side. Overall I would suggest it. When my daughter begins to pull herself up she won't be able to use this as an aide to escape like she would a regular bumper. I feel better that if she is right up next to it with her face she won't suffocate.

yes, she was about 3 months old and already too tall for the bassinet. I put her in her crib, with this bumper. Next thing the baby is crying louder than usual. Her foot was trapped under the lower rim of the bumper, between the slats. Also this bumper rides down- I solved the problem by theading two ribbons under the velcro and hanging the bumper from the crib's top. This bumper needs some changes in design.

It took me forever to try and get this installed on my standard sized crib because the long piece wasn't long enough to fit all the way across the crib due to the thick posts. Regardless of how I positioned it, one slat was not covered - which in my mind defeats the whole purpose (it could be that slat where my daughter will get her arm or leg stuck. You just never know). The manufacturer should have made the pieces and the velcro longer so you have more flexibility and better fit. Other than than, it remains to be seen if it will be a useful product since baby will not be here for another 6 weeks.

keeps hands and legs in,

This is great for keeping the baby's hands and legs in. We got it because she used to get her leg stuck between the bars all the time. Unfortunately it comes in 2 pieces that didn't fit our crib. We took it to a local tailor who adjusted the velcro and sewed it into one long piece that now fits. I recommend it.

Breathable Bumpers,

This review is from: BreathableBaby Crib Bumper for Slatted Cribs - Pink (Baby Product)
These bumpers are safe and keep legs, arms, and pacifiers in the crib. They also protect against hard head bumps. The bumpers have breathing holes and are breathable if the baby rolls into them. They are sturdy and can be put on tightly. As the baby gets bigger and stronger they may be able to pull them down (but unlikely if on tight enough and safe even if that does happen). Gives me piece of mind more then traditional bumpers. A little difficult to put on at first and need to be washed before use.
