Biography

Blue Stone are the production duo Robert Smith and Bill Walters. Both write, produce, program and arrange all the music for Blue Stone. The music is electronic based, but the group uses many organic sounds and natural percussion to elevate the sound beyond simple electronica. World music, tribal rhythms and lush orchestration are the underpinning for melodic female vocals and harmonies that give… Read more in Amazon's Blue Stone Store

Morpheus Music

‘"Breathe" is ethereal electronic pop for those that enjoy a cinematic journey over a club or lounge sound."

Product Description

Blue Stone’s sound resonates with ambrosial melodies, opulent piano interludes and seductive vocals; interweaving a tapestry of enigmatic story-telling. The music transcends from the speakers; immediately epic and grand, then suddenly subdued and reflective. From the start, "Breathe" creates an invigorating aural assault; launching intricate electronic soundscapes laced with soaring operatic vocals by Darcy. Indigenous percussion rhythms morph into sweeping electronic nuances creating a paradox of aural delight for your ears. Delicate chimes, whispering voices and even Gregorian chant mingle cohesively with soaring strings, ebbing basslines and robust themes of time and life itself. "Breathe" exudes pop sensibilities within the finely crafted songs, yet reaches out into the far depths of electronic, gothic and classical ideals without compromising any integrity. Blue Stone is the culmination of three passionate individuals that have delivered a brilliant diamond of a record in a world desperate for quality music. "Breathe" is a breath of fresh air that will yield a fanatical response.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lush mood music..., March 24, 2006
This review is from: Breathe (Audio CD)
I bought this cd after getting a request to be a friend of the bands on myspace, and instantly fell in love with the emotive sound they have created. The cd is gorgeous. Once you put it on, you feel like you are falling through a gorgeous dream-like world filled with every sensual emotion known to man. The music is very reminiscent of Enigma, Delerium, Magna Canta, Amethystium, Lesiem and even a tiny bit of ERA! The cd is perfect for lovers of beautiful, ethereal mood music! This is one of the best albums to play late at night when you are relaxing, or to have on in the background while you read a book or try to de-stress from a hectic day. I find this cd very accomidating during cool-down sessions after exersizing, or to listen to at night before I go to sleep. It is a very beautiful album! Definetly pick this up if you are looking for something new to fill the void of Enigma or Delerium. You won't be dissapointed! I took ONE star off because I DO wish there were more lyrical vocals at times, but that is just me! I am a sucker for vocals!

I can't praise enough for this awesome album. Words fail me to describe how wonderful it is. The melody is so beautiful, the sound quality is so good, it moves me very time I play it. You really want to upgrade your audio system to truly appreciate it in my opinion.

If you like Ryan Farsh, Kitaro, Vangelis, etc, you will like Blue Stone. I can't wait for their next album .... !!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars New Age, NOT anything like Enigma..., February 21, 2007
This review is from: Breathe (Audio CD)
Ok, first the good... This CD is very well done and the group is well developed in their sound. It is an excellent NEW AGE CD.

Now for the bad... This CD is NOT anything at all like Enigma. I think of groups like Achillea, Amethystium, Balligomingo, Conjure One, Deep Forest, Enigma, and Sacred Spirits as SPIRITUAL music.

Spiritual music by my classification is relaxing, soothing, and in some cases features a unique sound. It has a lot of electronic sounds in it, monks singing, beautiful female voices, and the occasional engaging male voice like Robbie Robertson in Music for the Native Americans or Michael Cretu in Enigma.

These groups and musicians are often and unfortunately lumped into the new age category. But new age music has much more guitar or piano work. Jim Brickman is a new age piano player. Yanni is new age. Any Windham Hill artist is new age. So on and so forth.

Why do I say Blue Stone is new age? Well in this CD at least there is a LOT of piano music - too much in fact. It overwhelms the spacey aspect of the music, the promising start, and it becomes new age music.

So if you're looking for some good New Age music buy this CD. If you want something spiritual look pick one of the Spiritual music artists I have listed above. If you specifically want something that sounds like Enigma, go for Achillea.
