Editorial Reviews

Martin Khodabakhshian (9-Time Emmy Award-winning ESPN producer) directs and produces this fascinating documentary that truly goes to new depths in the search for man's physical and mental limits. Breathe follows New Zealander, William Trubridge as he attempts to break his own world record in the extreme sport of Freediving. William attempts to dive completely unaided to a depth of 300ft, almost to the bottom of the deepest blue hole in the world - "Dean's Blue Hole" in the Bahamas. Featuring candid interviews with locals who live in fear of the hole, interviews with William's family members who are in constant fear for his life and stunning underwater footage of William in action, Breathe will literally leave you holding your own breath as William takes us on a journey to the depths of mankind's fascination with the underwater world.

Customer Reviews

The only negative thing is that the documentary is bit too short in my opinion.

The production is top notch, the musical score is riveting, the filming and editing are incredible, and the story is amazing.

The documentary has emotion and passion and shows the difficulties faced by Will Trubridge to achieve your goal.

As a freediver myself I was hoping for a bit more information about how Will trains and some tricks to overcome certain mental and physical barriers. I would have also loved to see a record dive in real time with no cuts.
Overall the movie seems to be targeted more at complete beginners or people who don't dive at all. But I don't think they'll pay for the DVD, but rather would watch such a documentary on TV.
Still nice pictures from the Blue Hole! I hope to be there some day.

If you love free diving there are a few movies you must see : the big blue, Ocean Men, and Breathe.
the first 2 movies are about Jacques Mayol and Enzo Maiorca, and Umberto Pelizzari and Pipin Ferreras. All legendary free divers, discovering the capabilities of human body and mind.
Breathe is no exception as you follow William Trubridge who taught himself how to dive deep in the purest form, no weight, no fins, just a single breath and well prepared mind and body.
Enjoy

Very interesting and very professionally made documentary about William Trubridge. I have been very interested in this topic since I saw his Dahab Blue hole freedive and 101 meter world record video in Youtube. The only negative thing is that the documentary is bit too short in my opinion.

It combines an incredible story of overcoming with amazing images of Bahamas. People that are interested in radical sports will enjoy it very much. Definitely worth buying it.

I can't describe how enjoyable this video was for me and my family. It is one of those subjects that many (including me) knew little about, but I was enveloped in it quickly. The main character was developed well and the story moved well. My only complaint is that I can't spell the director's last name in a web search. AWESOME!

As a freediving beginner, i already saw lots of clips with William who focuses on the essential form of free diving: constant weight, no fins. This documentary describes one of his world record attempts with awesome pictures, great soundtrack and fascinating scenes. For me, it is extremely inspiring. Great documentary!

It is inspirational, funny, informative, beautifully filmed and I enjoyed it throughout.

Dean's blue hole is spectacular place to dive and I don't think anyone can watch this movie without being fascinated with freediving and what William is able to do.

I was on the Safety Team for the Freediving World championship at Deans Blue hole in 2009 so this stunning footage brought back lots of awesome memories.

I recommend that you buy this movie and watch it.

Quite fascinating look at Freediving. William is very open and shares his experience through videos that show several of the records he has set.
