Take a deep breath...,

...and plunge right into this awesome cd by Randy Scott. Like Paul Taylor? Walter Beasley? Good music? You must hear this, buy this, download this into your everyday ipod, in your car, in your system music. From Breathe, to Bliss, to probably the best rendition of Mo' Better Blues (the 2nd best thing about the movie -Denzel, #1 - is this cut and Randy's version is pure and perfect) I have ever heard, this cd shows that Mr. Scott is a soulful, sax-savvy brotha who needs to be heard by those who like their jazz sweet and smooth and musically on point. You have to hear this. And Breathe.

SCOTT'S BEST CD YET,
This review is from: Breathe (Audio CD)
This is a very well done and entertaining CD. I just purchased it about a week ago, and I absolutely love it. This is without a doubt, Randy Scott's best CD yet, and I believe he is definitely about to explode big time on the smooth jazz scene. I recommend it highly.

BREATHE is the dynamic sax player's 4th album to date. His last release (WORDS UNSPOKEN) debuted in the Top 40 on the Smooth Jazz charts in 2002. This impressive player was the protégé of the late, great Grover Washington, Jr. who became his mentor and friend. There is no mystery as to why Grover felt a kindred spirit toward Randy Scott, as his craft is truly world class; he's an extraordinary player and composer. BREATHE is one of my personal favorites of 2007. You have to really `wow' me if you're a saxophonist simply due to the fact that there are so many sax players in this genre... Randy Scott totally wows me. I appreciate the effortlessness he exhibits on an album filled with super deep grooves. That ease alone is masterful. He is proficient on all musical instruments and has performed and recorded with such notables as Michael Powell, Norman Brown, Angela Bofield, Ronnie Laws, Marion Meadows and many others. I think it's important to also note that he is a three-time winner of the nationally televised, It's Showtime at the Apollo, and winner of the Hennessy Jazz Search. BREATHE kicks off with a funk and bang with the title track and jams onward from there. Highlight tracks for us include the first single "Bliss" featuring guitarist Tim Bowman, the smooth and breezy "Imagine This" showcasing Frank McComb on piano and the moving and melodic "Hope In Darkness." BREATHE is a breath of fresh air!

Breathe is by far Randy Scott's best CD!!! Beautifully arranged, smooth jazz music. This is clearly his breakout album, one that matches his phenomenal talent with equally outstanding writing. Bliss lives up to its name. As the song says: "What More Could I Ask For??"

After my rather harsh review of Randy's "Words Unspoken", and I'm sorry bout that, but I call it like I see it, I'm back to give up the mad props for this release. Oh yeah, sweet. When the first song kicked off, Breathe, I was like hmmmm, now he's caught up in a Kim Waters-Gerald Albright-Walter Beasley groove, hmmmmm, kinda nice, but let's hear the next one, Mo Better Blues. Well!....I thought I was listening to the return of the Crusaders. That's a bad jam there-an album highlight for sure. Bliss follows, and that it is, another gem, followed by another magic moment as he cools ya with Whatever. More good stuff follows. In fact Voyage, which closes the album, was the only track that didn't do it for me. Actually, it's not really a bad track but in parts reminds me of some Russ Freeman-ish rock guitar. Don't get me wrong, I love Russ Freeman, but not when he's in rock guitar mode. Anyway, a big thumbs up, and a shout out to all who read my reviews.
