Makes you want to see them live!,

This band is well worth the investment in CDs and sharing with your friends. Now they need to get back to the studio and record some more great music. All six musicians are exceptional talents, with Jon on drums, Brendan on bass, Mark on fiddle and harmonica, Randy on lead guitar, Jeff on sax, flute, keyboards and other instruments and they are led by the raspy upbeat Irish vocals of Keith. My favorite songs on this CD are: Wash My Hands, Shake Me Down, Mary, and Follow me Up To Carlow. Lets keep our fingers crossed that they come out with another CD in the near future and they continue to be the nice bunch of guys that they are. See them if you get a chance!

I have seen these guys live several times in Santa Cruz and SLC. The disc is almost as good as the live show. Almost. You will listen to it over and over and over and over.

Don't listen to this CD in the car,

Wow! Breathe is one of those CD's with so much energy that you may find yourself getting pulled over for speeding while singing along in the car. Breathe captures the passion and excitement of the Dubs live shows, which are second to none. From the original compisitions like Shame, to their updated interpretations of the traditional Celtic tunes Foggy Dew and Follow Me Down To Carlow, The Young Dubliners rock. Enjoy this CD, but listen at your own risk.

The Dubs are THE BEST band to see/hear LIVE...this cd is great and it will leave you looking for their next gig near your town. Look for their new CD coming out June 20, 2000! Awesome band, once hooked you will be a Dubs fan forever!

I recently purchased Young Dubliners Real World and Breathe. Both are fantastic. They are both relaxing and exciting. The words are meaningful and fun to listen to. The music is wonderful. It has a sort of blue grass / country / alternative / Irish feel. Previous to purchasing these two cd's I had only heard 2 or 3 songs played by the Young Dubliners. I thoroughly enjoyed these cd's and am now a true fan. I plan on buying their other cd's very soon.

I happened to buy this album at a flea market recently for $2. I had never heard of The Young Dubliners before, but the album cover looked interesting. I'm so glad I bought the album, because it's definitely the most bang I've ever gotten for the buck. It's a perfect marriage of rock and Irish traditional music. I love the whole album, but the song "Nothing's Gonna Change" is my favorite. It has such an infectious rhythm and melody, it just gets under your skin, in a good way. I can't get it out of my head (again, in a good way)! I'm so glad I discovered this band and definitely want to check out their other albums and see them live.

Great Irish Guys!,

I learned of The Young Dubliners when I was lucky enough to have met them in Boise, ID in 2002. They were on tour promoting their new album "Absolutely" and opening for Jethro Tull, and I was being trained on how to address the media on issues related to wildfire mitigation for my summer internship position in Anchorage, AK. They had just returned from Anchorage, so in talking with them I gained not only a free cd (no tickets to the concert, unfortunately!) but a newfound love of Celtic Rock. In using traditional insturments, The Young Dubliners keep a traditional feel in their music, but in the way their music is put together they are a hit with the modern crowd too. They bring a fresh new sound to the Celtic genre, and the rock genre, as well. I am reviewing the cd "Breathe", which is a necessity for any rock fan with an open ear. This album features the song "Foggy Dew", which with its energy is reminiscent of the "third class old world party scene in the movie 'Titanic'". This same energy is present in their song "Rocky Road", which my eighteen-month old daughter starts dancing to any time she hears it! The lyrics really embody their diversity as a group, and range from traditional Irish songs like "Alive Alive O" to songs about beer-drinking. Two more albums you simply must listen to are "Alive Alive O", and "Absolutely", lovers of Celtic music will swoon! I like the Young Dubliners because it is virutally impossible to be in a sad or bad mood when listening to their music, it makes you want to dip your toes in the Great North Sea! If you like the Young Dubliners, you will also probably like Flogging Molly- another energetic Celtic rock group!

I learned of the Young Dubs by chance -- they were performing "Follow Me up to Carlow" one morning on t.v. -- and was instantly impressed. Soon after that I checked to see if they had any major CDs released.I just received my copy of this CD today and, for the most part, I enjoy it. It has a lot of energy, starting from the first bit of the lead song, but manages to mix in slower songs (like "Mary") and traditional Irish songs (tracks 4 & 9). Roberts has a powerful voice, even seeming to be able to turn his accent on and off based on the song. They don't play "Irish rock" quite in the way I initially believed they did, but they still produce some strong music.

The best thing to happen to rock music since the Beatles,

Only one word can sum up the magic that is The Young Dubs - BRILLIANT. :) I've been an avid Dubs fan since 1994, when I heard them play live and was blown away by their incredible energy, charisma, witty and memorable lyrics and well written tunes. The songs are emotionally resonant without ever decending into cliche, and oh-so-much fun to dance to. Without a doubt the best band around today.
