A lot of time spent on trivial, emo stuff. Zero credit given for any cultural growth between now and then. Not sure why he thinks people will still continue to eat, live and behave so destructively when we've already begun the swing to realization. Not interested in the rest of the trilogy.

Breathing Space was a very enjoyable, heart-pounding book. It captures your attention right from the beginning and throughout the book you will grow deep, emotional feelings for the main characters, especially Captain John Lewis. The descriptions in the book are so vivid that you can tell that a lot of thought went into choosing just the right words to describe what was going on. They were so good that it was easy to picture the events, objects and characters in your head.

This book also touches on current ecological issues that hopefully will not become as major of a reality in the real world as it was in the opening pages of the book. You will get enthralled as the hunt to find a new planet becomes the main focus of the book. Then once the mission is set off, you will be kept in suspense for every move that the expedition team makes. You will meet new species, new beings, and you will be surprised to find out who is an ally and who is an enemy!

The end of the first book leaves you anxiously waiting for Resistance: Book Two of the Exodus Trilogy!

Here is a Sci-Fi book that something for everyone. Action, adventure, techno babble and a little bit of RomCom. The book provides a relevant look at today's world and hints at a future that we could be approaching however Fydell's craftily written story leaves us with hope and optimism. Can't wait for the next book.

I was enjoying the book from the first chapter to the end and it reminded me of my favorite series Stargate SG-1 and the feeling I had when new populated words with different races were revealed. It is very different book than many others. It brings a deep message which is frightening and sad but at the same time very truthful and show the reality as it is and the possible future if the humanity continues to assault our planet and consume it in a scorching way. I found the relationship between the characters respectful and at the same time friendly as there are many examples of them caring about each other's wellbeing. The most amazing part of the book is the end where the story has unexpected and surprising events which startle the characters and their hopes. Recommended book for every sci-fy fan!

I met the author in person at the 2011 New York Comic Con. He and his agent gave a very interesting pitch to sell me the book, and you know what, they held up to their promises. The book in a whole is very short, great for an average reader. For a person looking for long-term reading, this may not be the book for you. However, I took my time with this book to get all the ins and outs. Although there wasn't much elaboration on characters, I felt extremely connected with the main character, as the reader should be in any case. Ian definitely took his time to research his material, and did a very good job of organizing the plot. Fydell also gave a realistic view on the imminent future. There were some interesting and absolutely unexpected twists and turns throughout, so expect some shockers. The story, as I said, felt short, but it is a part of a trilogy. I cannot wait for the next two installments in the Exodus Trilogy. Hope this helps!

Breathing Space: Book 1 of the Exodus Trilogy was a great ride. I couldn't put it down. Ian Fydell's first book is truly on it's way to becoming a classic in the annuls of Science Fiction. The descriptive writing, relate-able characters and impressive plot twists will hook you in from the first word. I am eagerly awaiting Resistance: Book Two of the Exodus Trilogy!

Ian opens our eyes to remind us of how precious life and this planet truly are.

I've never been much of a reader but I simply had to try this book. And boy was it worth it. This is the first book I completely finish from beginning to end. The characters were great and it was very easy to see the events unfold in my mind. Really looking forward for the sequel.
