5.0 out of 5 stars I don't like New Age Music, March 26, 2006
This review is from: Breathing Spaces (Audio CD)
But this is good music. I got this to do Tai Chi to and it works great . I've bought Cd's that are supposedly for Tai Chi and the flow required just isn't there. This cd is not only smooth and flowing enough for Tai Chi, but also 'quiet' and soft enough for meditation, and at the same time just nice enough to put on at home or in the car and just LISTEN to. It never sounds repetitive or too minimal , and yet it doesn't change so drastically in tempo or tone that Tai Chi or meditation is adversely affected. I love it and very highly recommend it.

Absolutely brilliant and peaceful.
If you can combine "calming, touching, heartwarming, soothing" into one word, let me know so I can describe just how good this CD is!

5.0 out of 5 stars Positively dreamy, December 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Breathing Spaces (Audio CD)
I first heard this CD during a yoga class, and just had to go and buy it for myself. It's so soothing! Now, I always play it when I do my stretches at home, and take it with me every time I go for a massage. In fact, I listen to it whenever I just want to find a "breathing space." This CD simply floats me away...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Exquisite Heart of Stillness, October 1, 2004

From the very first listening I was encaptivated by these beautiful gentle melodies. Easy on Western ears but with wonderful oriental instrumentation and tonal scales. The music has an undercurrrent of spirituality, you can tangibly feel Jiang Xiao-Qing's committment to her playing and the emotion she has poured into her performances. Just one track from this album is enough to make me feel relaxed - I play it in the car, I play it when I get home from work and I play it before I go to bed. It is calming, restful and uplifting; the exquisite heart of stillness.

The first time I heard the song "Winter Sky" from this CD was on Soundscapes Music Channel on Direct TV. I was so moved by the song it actually brought tears to my eyes and made me float away to another place where I always smile.

Hypnotic ~ this is the utmost best albulm. Her music is breath-taking. It mentally catures you, takes you away to a magical place, then leaves you with a tingeling sense gladness. I listen to it all the time. I wish Jiang Xiao-Qing had more CD's ... I'd buy them all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Chinese Music!!, July 3, 2011

I love this album because it's so relaxing and romantic. Unfortunately, I don't have all the songs on my ipod because not only are some songs better than others, I have a very small ipod. I have Nocturne, Winter Sky, Leaves of Autumn, Water's Edge, and Tears of the Moon. These are very beautiful songs. I recommend this album to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful music, April 4, 2011

If you like unusual music that is mellow, but that's not labeled "new age" or "smooth jazz," then give this CD a listen. The ancient instruments used by the artist create a lyrical, ethereal feeling that really transports your mind to a place of complete calm and relaxation. It's soothing and beautiful and a rare treat that's a departure from the typical music you hear on the airwaves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soft and Heartwarming, April 12, 2010
This review is from: Breathing Spaces (Audio CD)
If you need to create a space to get away from it all, and already have a comfortable place to sit and some incense or candles, all you need besides that is this album. It lends itself well to meditation, yoga practice, tea ceremony, or just plain relaxation. Never cluttered, and never boring, it remains light and airy throughout, while also managing to be melodious and touching. Suitable for playing during a nice warm bath, or to help you drift off to sleep. Very comforting.
