And the thing about panicking when you're forty feet under the ocean's surface is that you can drown, and you know you can drown. In fact, you can't breathe without your regulator even if you're not panicking. You're also not supposed to hold your breath, because there's pressure underwater. That means if you're not breathing out bubbles while the regulator is out, your chest might expand until it explodes.

Pam Withers is a former journalist, editor and outdoor guide who has written 13 sports and adventure novels for teens plus a sports biography. All are bestsellers and three have been nominated for awards. Her work includes the 10-book Take-it-to-the-Extreme series. A new middle-grade and young-adult novel are due out the fall of 2011. Pam grew up in Wisconsin and the Dakotas, and has also lived in California, Washington, New York City and Ireland. The mother of one son, she lives with her husband in Vancouver, Canada. I have purchased many of the Orca books for my 7th and 8th grade reading students. Students are constantly requesting them.
This book has student look at the problem many girls have with body image. It is a quick and exciting read.
