I bought this sleep sound machine because I have mild insomnia and sometimes listening to something soothing helps me sleep. In particular, I was looking for a thunderstorm noise which is surprisingly hard to find at an affordable price. I chose this product mainly because it offered two options related to thunderstorms; rain and thunder. The sounds encompassed by this product are rain, thunder, stream, heartbeat, woods, birds, the ocean, and white noise, which is just a waterfall.

This first night I tried this product, I could not sleep. The sound quality is absolutely horrible. I barely had the sound adjuster off of zero and all I could mainly hear was static. Bad quality number one.

Bad quality number two, the noises for this machine are aweful. All of the noises are on a loop for less then a second. It's extremely easy to pick out and predict when the loop is coming, and it is hard to focus on what is supposed to be the "soothing" quality of the noise when all you can concentrate on is the static and one hit wonder noise.

Bad quality number three, the rain function sounds like the white noise when the T.V. is turned to a channel it doesn't have reception for. The waterfall, the only sound I can even remotely listen to for five seconds without losing my mind, has a weird and pointless noise in the middle that has nothing to do with waterfalls or white noise. The thunder noise is so ridiculous you wouldn't believe me if I tried to explain it.

The machine does have some good points to it, such as its attractive design, direct controls, and the fact that the options for sound are continuous, fifteen minutes, thirty minutes, or one hour long cycles. That is all drowned out though because the "sleep" sound machine does nothing more then keep me awake at night.

In all, this product is outrageously overpriced in comparison to its quality and I suggest you look for another product.

A waste of money. The sound is horrific. I did not even bother to return it. I was so upset after 3 days, I put it in the trash can; and when i did that I felt good.

Performs exactly as described. Soothing sounds and loud enough to block out background noise without being offensive. I purchased it to help my wife sleep. And after many others, she is very happy with this one. Excellent product.

I had to reorder this unit as the first one had a defective volume control and no sound came out. I was refunded promptly and the second had no volume control issues and worked as expected.

I LOVE this shell. Bought it for my twins to drown out background noise and have now had it for almost 3 years. We take it everywhere we travel, even camping and my son sleeps with it on all night, every night. My daughter has a CD of white noise in her room and it is horrible, always skipping and having issues. This shell NEVER has issues. I am about to order another one of these for her and don't know why I didn't do it 2.5 years ago. We only use the Rain button because it is perfect neutral white noise. Maybe the other buttons aren't quality noises but it does not matter if you are buying this for a good white noise sound.

I work 11PM - 7 AM, so I need something to block outside noise during the day. This item works perfect, so I get my sleep.
