A donkey, dog, cat and rooster have been turned out by their master because they are old and no longer useful. They decide to go to Bremen and become the town musicians. On their way, they stop for the night and discover an isolated house inhabited by four robbers who have plenty of food. The animals decide to scare away the robbers. The robbers leave the house permanently and the animals never go further because they have what they want, a home.

This four scene play based on the folktale is a wonderful means of teaching oral language and enhancing self esteem. There is a part for each student in the class. I especially like the animal choruses! The staging notes are extremely helpful. What a terrific learning experience.
