This album is fantastic. The previews of the songs on this site fail to convey the upbeat nature of many of the tempos of the songs, which often start off mellow but then break in to dramatic choruses. His voice is somewhat reminiscent of David Gray in several of the songs. The music and the lyrics tend to remind me a bit of Matt Nathanson, though a little more creative, so it is a great combination! It's definitely one of my best music purchases of the year!

Great new artist...Adore the Berndon James CD...Driving on fall roads with the beautiful scenery..Just makes you feel great..Anyone that Loves Van Morrison or David Grey will adore Brendon Kames...Saw him on Rachael Rey and ordered it the same day...Have been a fan ever since...Job well done Bren...................

The Brendan James CD is great. Easy to listen too and his voice is very good. Love to ride in the car and listen to this CD. Would buy another one of his for sure.

Loved this CD. Alot of times you buy a cd only to find you only like the one song you bought it for. That is not the case with this cd. I enjoy every song and listen to it frequently. Brenndan's voicd is very unique and soothing to listen to. Love it!

Every song on the album is a winner. Listen to each cut for yourself. A magical, tender album. Buy it!!! You'll like it. No, you will love it.

Awesome talent!

His Sophomore album does not contain one inkling of any type of slump. I loved the album that I purchased on amazon so much the I went on itunes and bought it again just for the one bonus track. I also tend to purchase another copy every time I'm lucky enough to catch a live performance. If you ever get the chance to see him live, you should jump at the chance. As great as he sounds on the album, the live experience adds so much! If you haven't heard Brendan's voice, jump over to youtube and check out any video.
This album contains both up-tempo and slower ballads that are all great in my opinion. I also feel the album is great lyrically so whether you looking for a good tune or a song that means something to you, you will probably find both in the same song. This would also make a great gift for any music lover.

I cannot believe there are only 15 reviews on here for this album. Brendan James is outstanding. The album is rich and colorful and filled with amazing sounds and lyrics. See Brendan live if you can... he is really amazing and will be big very soon.

I loved "The Day is Brave," Brendan James' first CD, and several of the songs ("The Sun Will Rise," "Green," "Let Your Beat Go On") are still among my favorites two years after purchasing the CD. When this newest CD was released, I was both excited and apprehensive about getting it. I didn't want to be disappointed. I certainly was not. If anything, this newest offering is better than his first. In fact, I have played it pretty much non-stop since receiving it a week ago. James' song subjects are eclectic, which I love, and they're not about how to score with a babe or how to score some dope or how to stick it to The Man. There is no whining here. These are songs that express a sincere, unconditional love of life--no matter what it brings. James' grace and compassion come through with great clarity, as does his voice, which is the primary instrument on every track.

I love all the songs, but in particular:
"Changing Us"--an anthem for our times
"Anything For You"--for its delightful imagination and visual imagery, simply splendid
"Your Beating Heart"--heartbreakingly sweet
"Stupid For Your Love"--makes me smile every time

I imagine that "The Fall" will get the most radio play, and it's a great song, but so are all the others. I definitely recommend watching some of the YouTube videos if you really want to get hooked on James' music, then come back and order the CD. As another reviewer here said, the short snippets given as "samples" don't offer enough of any song to get a true sense of it.

This is a tremendous CD. Just can't say enough good stuff about it. Just get it.

I love, love, love this CD. Brendan's voice is fantastic, and I enjoy every song on this CD. I first heard him when he did a musical guest appearance on the Rachael Ray Show. He performed Fall and the Lucky Ones. I was hooked after hearing just those two songs.

If you like Brendan's first album, this one will blow you away. Much better production, songwriting, and variety of songs. Great melodies and lyrics.
