This is that rare and wonderful thing-a brilliant debut album from a mature young artist with a sound like nothing you have ever heard. Dennen's voice sounds like it's caught somewhere between adolescence and adulthood, but he sings with the idiosyncratic confidence of Van Morrison. His guitar playing crackles with jazzy melody and he has already learned that less means more. Dennen's unique phrasing syncopates with the playing to make you tap your toes as you absorb his superbly crafted songs. The material is often unabashedly spiritual, invested with down-to-earth intensity and sincerity. Brett Dennen has it all together and the production lets it shine. Brett's music is unique, genuine, and soulful. You can hear an eclectic mix of influences, Paul Simon being the dominating force, but the music remains uniquely his own. Randy's drums range from primal to gentle...totally amazing. If you ever get a chance to see him live, he really thrives on the stage and his music gains a new dimension as he improvises and grooves. Buy this album!

Desert Sunrise is one of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard - All We Have is a powerful plea for global consciousness and action, delivered with rockingly exciting accompaniment and gorgeous background vocals - When I Go made me cry, just for the sheer beauty of the sentiment - Oh The Glorious makes me want to be a better person - Nothing Lasts Forever is wise beyond the writer's years - all this from a young songwriter, blessed with a voice that beckons you to listen, & still unknown to a majority of the music conscious world. I want to help change that last situation - Brett Dennen's music could/will make the world a nicer place to live in!

I bought this album after seeing him live...I was very impressed!I just can't stop listening to this CD! There isn't a song I dislike and many of them I find myself singing later in the day....very catchy tunes with creative guitar hooks. On top of that he writes uplifting spiritual lyrics that I've been yearning for. You won't be dissapointed.

I personally know Brett, not too well, but I know him. He is a great guy and his music is so inspirational to a ton of people i know. Listen to the lyrics, they are so moving and spiritual. If you buy this CD, you will definitely NOT be disappointed. All of the songs on here are so great. My 3 favorites are: Desert Sunrise, By & By, and Just Like The Moon. I bought this cd about a year ago, and I've listen to at least one song from it each day since. This is the best cd on the market, anywhere.

I first heard "Blessed" on the [...] TV commercial for hotels/travel. I couldn't get it out of my mind. I searched and searched and finally found that it was Brett Dennen! He is an up and comer! His music, voice, arrangements etc. are so unique and impossible to describe. It is unlike anything you have ever heard. It resonates with something very primal in your soul. This CD goes everywhere with me and I can't wait to see him in person. If you are looking for a new addiction, look no further!

This man has a voice to swoon, and his lyrics are exquisitly sincere, open and infused with a tender rawness.

You can't deny the spirituality and heart that Brett puts into his music. With this debut, Dennen lays down the ground work of what could be a lengthy songwriting career. I would have like to have heard more up-tempo songs, but Brett is prefect for coffee houses, college campuses, and respectful bookstores.

I try "music I haven't heard of" several times a year, and Brett Denned is intriguing enough to warrant the money spent :)

This is one of my favorite ablums- I never get tired of and listen to it all the time and have for years. I can't recommend this album enough!
