I've had this toaster for about 2 years and it is the slowest
ever! I've only still got it because I paid $180 for
it and am saving up for a new one (not a Breville)
On top of that, it toasts very lightly up until the mid
settings, so it's slow and doesn't cook the bread enough.
I often have to put the bread back in for a second or third
time, I don't adjust the dial because then it over cooks and
I have to start over. I don't like it, it cost a lot and I
thought it was going to be the best toaster but it's slow
and cooks unevenly and on top of that the right side is not
functioning properly and the lights sometimes flash and the
bread doesn't cook at all when that happens, I have to pull out
the power cord and put the bread back in, and that just hasn't happened
it started not functioning properly early on when we bought it.
Don't buy this, choose another brand.

I was skeptical from the beginning, but since my wife paid big bucks for this toaster I decided to keep an open mind.We've had the toaster for about two years and it has just started to fail. Half of the elements inside are not working so I'm ready to toss it.
It's been a little slow from the start and way too complicated. Machinery, appliances etc. should be as simple as possible. They took this toaster to the other extreme, do you really need a little motor or whatever to raise and lower the toast. It's only toast.

We got this toaster from my daughter for Xmas. For the past 8 years, I've been trying to find a toaster that can actually make toast! Have a collection of at least 8 unsuccessful toasters! I've tried some of the most expensive and some cheapies in an effort to get a toaster that I could live with!
Success at last! This Breville is amazing. It is fast and quiet and you can see the progress so you know when it will finish. I love english muffins but like them well done. This is the only toaster that can make an english muffin without pushing it down 2 times. The chime to alert you when it's finished doesn't wake the rest of the house. The "little more" feature is very handy, at least until you get to know the settings. The only unknown is how long it will last, but, so far, it has been flawless. I would recommend this toaster to any one with no reservations! I did notice another review with an unhappy owner, and can only surmise that his toaster is not working correctly! I rarely post reviews, but I really felt obligated to post this one so people know there really is a good toaster available!
