5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and quiet
Took a chance on this Breville blender. Never heard of the brand before but liked the simple design, no fancy electronic keypad, big pitcher size. Pretty, but doesn't blend smoothies. The problem seems to be the innovative blade design -- instead of the usual blades at the bottom that produce a smooth-flowing vortex, the Breville (patented) blades spin higher in the container and splash stuff all over the sides and top. Sturdy and stable, easy to operate, easy to clean, quality product. We've tried SEVERAL blenders and this one is a good one especially at this price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good heavy duty blender, August 25, 2003

I've been using this blender for a few weeks now. It is a solid and steady performer. It is a large blender, which I like because I like to make smoothies for my family without having to go through the process twice. The design is great - no twist lock - just lift the jar once you are done blending. The base is heavy and stable and the controls are very easy to use - no pondering over a multitude of options that really aren't very different from each other. The chrome looks great in the kitchen too. The only thing I wish this blender had is a retractable cord but it DOES have a unique design for the plug (I'm always hesitant to pull plugs out of sockets for some reason). I'm very satisfied with this blender. Good product for the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Big, brauny and beautiful, April 28, 2003

Big motor, big pitcher, and nice design. Looks like it's come straight from a 50's diner - shiny and curvy. This thing crushes ice and nuts in seconds and brightens up the kitchen. Very impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Blender, March 15, 2004

This review is from: Breville CBL10XL Classic Blend Master Blender (Kitchen)
We use this blender just about daily--I make protein shakes; my wife blends various spreads and dips. It works wonderfully both at grinding ice and for blending. The unique six blade system crushes ice in no time flat. The vortex system of the jar allows for excellent blending from top to bottom. A knowledgable chef had told me to look for a blender with a vortex jar, and this was one of the few that I found. This blender works much better than the KitchenAid that it replaces both for blending and ice grinding. I also prefer the three speeds to the two speeds offered by the Oster and Waring blenders. Seemingly well-built and durable. This Breville is highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best we've had yet, December 6, 2003

We decided to base our blender purchase on Amazon's customer reviews rather than Consumer Reports reviews (couldn't find this brand rated in CR), and are glad we did so. This blender is used daily for smoothies and once a week for frozen margaritas. It's quieter than others we've had in the past and is great at crushing ice....nice, smooth margaritas. It's very sturdy and looks good on the counter. It holds up in the dishwasher too. We had to wait over a month for it since it was on backorder, but are glad we did. After a few months of daily use, we're very happy with it.

Pretty, but doesn't blend smoothies. The problem seems to be the innovative blade design -- instead of the usual blades at the bottom that produce a smooth-flowing vortex, the Breville (patented) blades spin higher in the container and splash stuff all over the sides and top. Somehow, this splashing, churning motion lets thumb-sized chunks of frozen fruit escape the blades even with a long running time, pulsing, and hand-stirring. I've given up on it, and will return to my half-burnt-out cheapo Hamilton-Beach while waiting for repairs on a dead Waring. If only one could combine the Waring or Hamilton-Beach blades and container with the quiet and powerful Breville motor...

I should deduct 1 star since I paid 99.00 for mine but I like
this blender.
Easy to clean. Easy to use.
It is so powerful it will toss food all over your kitchen
even with the main lid on. It creates a vacuum. The blades
are supoer sharp.
I make a lot of smoothies. This blender does it very well.
I tried unpeeled apples and pears and voila!....you can't tell
the peels are in the smoothie.
I also used it for making super fine suger using regular
granulated sugar. If we did not turn it off it would have made
confection sugar. I also used it for grinding grahmam crackers
for a crust....it did it too well....I ended up with graham
cracker flour.
It gets all the nooks a cranies and leaves nothing behind. My
oster blender always needed some help.

At 79.99 this is a good deal and a great blender....I paid more
and I recommend it!

I never heard of this brand before and took a chance on it. Am very satisfied with it. It is used every day to make smoothies with lots of frozen fruit. It is quiet, heavy duty, "professional" quality, simple to operate and my husband thinks it has enough chrome to be worthy of placement next to his Harley.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars--for the price, September 12, 2005
This review is from: Breville CBL10XL Classic Blend Master Blender (Kitchen)
I did extensive reasearch before buying this blender.

I was looking for something that would dazzle my countertop as well as make dreamy smoothies every morning for my family of 4. Therefore, I wanted chrome, with the highest power motor for the lowest $.

Previously I had owned cheaper models that were basically disposable -- not only did they leave my smoothies chunky, they'd break down and I ended up buying a new blender every year or two. I wanted to invest in a more powerful motor, but didn't want to pay more than $200.

The Breville motor power met my expectations. And I was thrilled with the price.

I've had it for over a year now and my only dissapointment is the "chrome" finish is some sort of plastic. IT started to chip off of the blender jar base ring almost after teh first use, and just this week has started to chip off of the blender base itself. Underneath the "chrome" finish is a white plastic. The worst part about the chipping is that the chipped finish is razor sharp and we have cut ourselves badly several times-- especially on the jar ring which you have to handle each time to twist it off for washing. But we've become accustomed to wrapping a kitchen towel around the sharp thing to remove it and haven't had a bad cut in a long time.

I would have rated it just 4 stars for the cheap "chrome" finish, but for the price, it's a power ful motor and does a great job. And after a year+ the base itself still looks good sitting on the counter-- hence the 5 stars-- you get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well, I figured I owed you guys., June 2, 2005
This review is from: Breville CBL10XL Classic Blend Master Blender (Kitchen)
I just wanted to add a review because I thought it was the least I could do considering other reviewers helped me make an educated choice. Early this year I was on the search for a blender and had come across many brands. I almost bought a stainless steel junkster at target, but luckily for me the item was out of stock. I went online and read dismal reviews about the said blender. It got me on the search and I finally narrowed my search down to this blender and I've never been so happy. I've blended walnuts, ice, smoothies galore, and am eager to try new recipes. I even got a great price through amazon rather then another online store that was charging me 15 to twenty bucks more. I got a steal for 69 bucks. Hopefully, it is cheaper now, but I'm not sure. Thank you to the reviewers before me. Sorry, I didn't get technical or anything 'cause I just wanted to praise the item. Try to eat as much fruits and vegetables as possible. Good health comes from a varied diet with nutrient rich organic love. Peace at my fellow consumers. Get outside once and while and stop playing Halo 2. Peace.
