The Breville JE98XL was our replacement to our decade old Jack Lalanne Juicer. Wow, what a difference. If I had known what I was missing I would have made the switch a long time ago. We get a lot more juice out of our fruits and veggies with the Breville than with the Jack Lalanne. I can only imagine how much money was wasted over the years by not getting everything out of our produce. The Breville also makes quick work of juicing. Before, it was a major event to create enough juice for my family. Now it takes minutes. Clean up is super easy as well. And with the fitted juice catcher, no more mess to clean up like with the Jack Lalanne.

One more comment on all those downers who gripe about high revolutions killing the enzymes. Yes it is true, but to a very small degree. And the time I save with the Breville is well worth the small faction of enzymes I may lose.

I have been juicing for over a decade and this is the best machine I have used. I am once again excited about juicing, thank you Breville!

For the past couple of years we had been using a juiceman jr. We liked it but it was having difficulty holding up to all the juicing we began to do most recently. We did some research and felt that the Breville would meet our needs. I was happy to learn with the bigger mouth I didn't have to do as much prep work as I had been doing with the juiceman jr. Also, the Breville has two speeds and a booklet that has great recipes and suggestions. Relatively easy to clean and put back together. We have used it everyday and is holding up to all the various fruits and vegetables we are juicing!

There are only a few reviews for this on Amazon. I purchased this machine yesterday. It was not from Amazon. I think the Juice is excellent. The machine is very easy to set up and clean.
My problem is that two fold. First I am not sure the screen will hold up for the long haul. My second is that I just juiced a Pineapple and half of it was froth. The same goes with Beets, carrots,Apples etc.... It also seems to suddenly slam the fruit into the top of the machine. The pulp does not go into the basket also. The pulp from carrots is much dryer than other fruits. The other fruit pulp can be squeezed by hand. It is like I wish I had a press as a back up to press the pulp. It is a waste in my opinion to have so much pulp left over and then all that froth.
Look I have done research on a lot of juicers and for the price this one seemed to be great. It is a centrifuge juicer and I realize they are at the bottom of the line as far as juicers go. I am going to return my juicer tomorrow and go for the big bucks. I am going to purchase a twin screw triturator and maybe with a press. I just do not like all that froth and with produce being so expensive... I am sure the savings will pay for the more expensive machine.
Recap: If you do not mind all the froth and wet pulp??? It is your choice. Cleaning and assembly is a breeze. However you will probably have to disassemble it and clean it twice before you can make a quart of juice(or more???). The pulp does not go into the pulp basket instead it gets stuck on the top of the inside before it makes it into the basket. Then there is that nasty froth again.....What can I say???? I also tried the both speeds to see if that would help. Does not help. Good luck. I hope this was helpful??? Wish I read my review before my purchase....

I bought the Breville centrifugal juicer and the Omega masticating juicer to give them both a hands on try. Both are well built, semi-easy to clean, and deliver great juice. It is best I detail their performance below.

Overall I would highly recommend purchasing the Omega J8005 Nutrition Center if you are serious about juicing. With the ten year warranty I feel confident that this will be on the counter in my kitchen for years to come. The juice it makes is so good my 2 1/2 year old loves it! We fib and tell her it's apple juice or pineapple juice when there's greens mixed in and she loves it. I returned the Breville feeling somewhat guilty returning a product as fine as it is. If you have the money go for this Omega, if you are on a budget and greens are not a priority then I would say the Breville is an excellent choice!

I just bought the Brenville Juice Fountain Plus JE98XL. I have owned a Jack LaLanne Juicer previously but this juicer is substantially a better machine. The dynamics of the juicer are great it has a stainless steel exterior and its parts are sturdy and MUCH EASIER TO CLEAN THAN THE ABOVE MENTIONED JUICER. One of the major complaints with juicing is that the fruit would get stuck during the process which did not happen when I used the high feature. The clean up was easy and I would feel comfortable putting all the components in the dishwasher. I was very impressed with the shape and style of all of the uncomplicated parts of this juicer. Please note that this juicer has 2 speeds which was unavailable in the last model I purchased. For the price this is an outstanding buy. Good Luck!

I'm pretty new to juicing and was leaning toward the L'Equip 110.5, mostly because I was concerned about Breville's relatively short warranty. Someone who had the L'Equip suggested I go with the Juice Fountain Plus instead because the L'Equip's small mouth requires you to cut up nearly everything and it takes longer to clean up. Consequently, they weren't using their juicer nearly as often as they would have like (anyone with a consumer-grade espresso maker can probably relate). Anyway, I eat a ton of fruits and vegetables so I buy in bulk, but I'm also pretty picky about the condition of everything I eat. For instance, I hate eating spinach that is wilty, strawberries that are soft, apples that are mealy, oranges that are drying out, kale that has become stiff, etc. I've decided juicing is how I'm going to avoid tossing the extra produce each week that I don't want to eat raw.

I've had the Juice Fountain Plus for only one day so I can only provide initial impressions.

Pros:
- build quality. The device is very sturdy. Plastics are high quality, seals around the base appear very tight. Bowl balances well in the base. The metal arm which clips the bowl in place holds it very tight.
- multiple speeds. This unit has 2 speeds (6K / 11K RPMs). Certain types of produce juice better at high speeds, while others juice better at low speeds. Most compact or cheaper centrifugal ejection units offer only one speed.
- performance. I've made several batches with different types of produce, including apples, oranges, strawberries, kale, spinach, carrots, celery, rhubarb, cilantro and cucumbers. All the pulp in the collection bin is dry. This juicer is very efficient and it is capable of juicing every type of fruit or vegetable I've thrown at it very well. As an example, last night I juiced about 1-2 quarts of strawberries and 8-10 medium oranges (peeled). It produced a grapefruit-sized ball of pulp (which I tossed in my garden) and about a liter of delicious strawberry orange juice.
- quality of the juice. Might be true of every juicer out there, but I'm pretty astonished at how great everything tastes coming out of this juicer. I also noticed that it doesn't seem to heat things up which is nice (who wants a warm glass of OJ anyway?).

Cons:
- mess. The instructions say the motor should be running as you drop items in. The problem with a wide mouth centrifugal juicer, at least where the spinning bowl is directly below the intake chute, is that when the item hits the bowl, it sometimes splatters and shoots stuff back out the intake chute. Maybe there's some technique that I haven't mastered that involves stuffing the food pusher in really fast behind the produce, but I've gotten hit with a very small amount of 'shrapnel' while making every batch so far. Not a big deal, just something to be aware of, especially if you're juicing in your office or a tight space.
- foam. I suspect this is true of any centrifugal juicer that operates at a high speed, but I've noticed that top top inch or so of the juice receptacle is foam. If I toss the juice in the fridge for an hour or so it settles down, but if you want to drink it right away it'll be kinda like drinking a bad pour from the keg - lotsa head.


Neutral:
- cleanup. Again, probably an issue with any centrifugal juicer, but this thing has 5 separate parts that need to be washed after juicing, which takes time. Adding an extra 5-10 minutes to my morning routine is pretty hard, and I'm afraid it might get in the way of my juicing. Since it is all dishwasher safe, I could toss everything in the dishwasher, though some of the pieces are big and take up a lot of room, meaning I'm running a special load just for the juicer. They've included a brush which makes cleaning the blade / bowl much easier. We'll see how things go over the coming weeks.

Anyway, overall I'm very happy with this purchase so far and will update my review in a few weeks.

I had the Juiceman Pro 210 juicer and now this one. I alternate between being really into juicing to not juicing at all. So a $400-$500 investment in a single gear masticating juicer does not make sense.
I am currently into a 'really into juicing' phase, so much so that I overworked the poor Juiceman juicer a while ago.
Since I had no other point of reference at the time, my only issue with the Juiceman Pro 210 was that the feeder was small. I did wonder what it would be like to have a juicer accept an apple or orange without having to quarter it. But that really was the only issue. No complaints with plastic or motor or quantity of juice.

This Breville juicer beats the Juiceman hands down in EVERY category that I can think of. It has the power, it's compact enough to fit where I need it to on my kitchen counter and more:

1. Speed Counts - I'm a busy mom. I work, I cook, I chauffeur and somewhere in there I need to find the time to juice. I can't wait 30 minutes for a machine to work through veggies and fruit *at low temperature* and 100% dry pulp to get my juice. I can take out 10mins. 5 mins to prep the veggies and fruits (I peel my organic carrots before I juice them as an example, or to peel oranges, or wash the spinach). 1 min to juice it all. Literally. 1 min. Regardless of what you throw at it. And I juice for four glasses at a time. And then 2-3 mins for cleanup. So the long pole in the tent is the prep - not dealing with the juicer - which is great.

2. Juice Quantity Counts - Could the juice output be higher with some of the higher end products? Likely. But the cost of the higher end items plus the extra time to wait for the juice is not worth it to me. The pulp for 'hard' produce like carrots and beets feels very dry to me with this juicer. The difference between the Juiceman and the Breville is really in how it deals with the soft produce. I had to run the soft produce pulp through the Juiceman twice and I got equal quantities of juice. With the Breville 98XL, it is so dry the first go around that it absolutely is not worth my time to deal with the pulp a second time. I figure I get about 5% more juice by running the pulp through again. If that's not a big deal to you, then don't worry about it. What is 5% of 4 oranges worth to you is the question.

3. Ease of Use Counts - The machine is simple to put together and take apart. You will have to work on cleaning any juicer. No getting around that, no matter which one you use. Cleaning this juicer is not complicated and easily done. I clean mine right after I juice and drink. Another trick to ease cleanup is to put a plastic grocery bag in your refuse container. It's one less thing to wash. Pick up and drop into trash or empty into compost bin.

4. Stability Counts - You don't want a juicer running around on your counter. The last thing you want is to juice two carrots or beets and have that end up on the counter and stain instead of in your juice container because the juicer isn't sturdy. This juicer held it's own against tough produce and I have never had issues.

5. Can it Juice Green? - By green, I mean can it handle leafy greens, which are a problem for most low-end juicers. Not this one. I juice spinach, red swiss chard and kale regularly. And stringy greens like celery as well. And it handles it all well.

6. Do I need to be a stud to handle this? - I've dealt with juicer scenarios where I had to use both arms and my body weight to push push push the produce through. Not this juicer. It gobbles up produce as I feed it in. Love that it's speedy and powerful.

So, don't think about it. Whether you're an all time juicer or a sometimes juicer, this is a great product for a good price.

PS: Centrifugal juicers do not heat up your produce any more than masticating juicers. There have been studies done on this. Look them up. Plus - a masticating juicer takes 20-30 mins to 'chew' through the fruit and veggies to make juice. That means the first piece of juice would have been oxidizing for 20-30 mins before I could drink it. So really - the centrifugal juicer is quick, saves you money, saves you time and is easy to clean.

I still love this juicer. I usually juice twice a day. It handles all produce well. The ONLY issue I have had is with juicing pineapples. It seems to leak a little underneath the plastic, probably because I am putting in a lot of the pineapple in at the same time. The overflow of juice inside the juicer as it is being poured out into the container probably accounts for the minor leakage. In other words, slow down when juicing a large quantity of a super juicy fruit or veggie(I juice an entire pineapple sometimes) by alternating with less juicy produce, or give the juicer an extra 5-10 seconds to empty itself into the container.

I have wanted a Juicer so badly for a very long time, but the ones I fell in love with were $200 and up. As a first time juicer, I waasnt sure I wanted to drop that kind of cash to have it collect dust in the cabinet. And, I didn't want a low quality cheap one, because I hated to not get the most out of my produce when I juiced it. So, I held off till I was really sure and ready! And, this Juicer was the one I targeted!

First things first, appearance. This juicer is BIG. I was shocked at how big! It fits on the counter, but is very tall, and wont fit under standard sized cabinets on the counter. But, I am not too hung up on that. It's attractive, and fits in well with normal kitchen decor. The casing is smoke colored, and the pulp container isnt see through, which I like.

Secondly, Function. This thing is awesome. It really does make short work of apples, and larger items with it's large chute. It juices VERY quickly. I have read other reviews where people whine that it "slows down" sometimes on apples or hard veggies. Yes, it does on occasion. It's not because it cant handle it, it's most likely the angle. Simply let the pressure off of the hand pusher, patiently wait 2 seconds and try again. Absolutely not a problem. The High and Low setting is really nice, and it switched easily between the two for constant juicing. And, it's remarkably quiet. I expected (for it's size) it to have a very intense Jet Engine noise come out of it, and for it to Rumble all over the counter. It did not. It's noise level was very reasonable, and it did not so much as flinch on the counter when I turned it on. Solid as a rock in that respect.

Third, Clean-up. The tips of using a plastic baggie in the pulp waste container is a necessity, in my opinion. It makes cleanup so, so much easier and less messy! Those who said that cleanup was difficult or took a long time... I don't understand that at all. One would have to be completely braindead to spend longer than 5 minutes, start to finish, to clean this thing by hand. At, it's even dishwasher safe at that, if handwashing takes too long for you. Considering that this machine takes fruit and veggies, comlpletely obliterates them, spins a bajillion times per minute, and separates juice and pulp from each other... clean up is an absolute JOKE. I've made more of a mess using a knife to slice and orange and having orange juice all over the place. It's simply designed, everything locks and unlocks really easily, and no crazy nooks and crannies to scrub. My favorite feature is the easy cleanup. Its cleanup definitely wont discourage you from using it like some other models I have researched, where the fresh juice didn't justify the insane cleanup process. Honestly, if you simply rinse the parts under hot water immediately after you use it, there is virtually no cleanup.

Fourth, Price. This machine is a bargain for what it does. Great bang for the buck. Does the same as the more expensive ones, while blowing the doors off of the slightly less expensive ones it can be compared to.

Simply put, buy this one. It's fantastic.

I bought JE98XL Juicer for my wife and have had it about 2 months. This is our 1st Juicer so i'm no expert just reviewing what I have found.
1) After some research found that the 98xL replaced the 950 Breville because the motor was bad in the 950.
2) Juices carrots,whole apple and kwi,celery, ginger root very well.
3) softer things like bananas,small berries, fresh parsly and spinach NOT so well they get thrown into the pulp container. try to put in together with harder things to juice together. Some things (grapefruit) I just squeeze the juice in.
Fruit juices all taste good, lots of sugar and no fiber, remember you throw that away (pulp). The Vegetables ones you need to experiment on for a alright taste.
Overall I think a good juicer takes 2-5 minuts to rinse everything. Would be nice to be able to reuse all the pulp which I just throw away.
I would like to try a juicer that sqeezes the juice out.

This juicer is very easy to use. The clean up is a cinch and the lid on the juice container does a great job separating the foam. Every once in a while there is a large chunk in the pulp container so I run it through the blades again. Works great!
