I love this grill. It is easy to use, fast, and cleans up beautifully. When not in use, I can stand it on end and it takes up very little counter space. The drip tray is easy to remove and cleans up well. I've made a variety of sandwiches, turkey burgers and hamburgers. Haven't had a chance to grill steak, chicken or fish yet. I purchased this after seeing a friend use it in her restaurant kitchen. She highly recommended it. Said she cooks most of her meats and sandwiches on it. It cuts grilling time nearly in half too. When selecting a spot to use it, consider putting it near your stove vent hood so it can evacuate the smoke/steam.

I have owned and used several brands of home panini grills. This is by far the best one that I have used. It heats up faster, gets hotter, and is more convient to use. The height adjustment for more delicate foods is easy to use and works great. The lock feature for stand up storage works better than any other that I have used.The non-stick surface cleans easily with the included cleaning tool. I can't think of any thing bad to say about it.

This grill has been not only useful, but fun. Salmon fillets only take TWO minutes and they are perfect. We often look for things we might grill and have turned our imaginations loose on breads, fillings and condiments. Highly recommend this grill!

This is a great panini maker and grill.
I use it frequently and I'm very pleased with it.
I wish it had a separate on-off switch instead of having to unplug it to turn it off.

It's fast, easy and awesome. My husband and I use this after a late day at work, the food cooks evenly and fast. It's the best thing I have purchased in a long time.

I have enjoyed turning a sandwich into something special. It is fast and easy to use. I will order it as a gift for others.

On the whole, I love this product. The Good: it's fast and almost cleans itself; the drip tray is deep and clicks into place (and stays there) and the height adjustments for the wonderfully heavy top piece means I don't end up with cheese all smushed out around the sides, nor is there a need to stand there pressing down the lid. I also like the secure locking mechanism and the stability when stored on it's end. The Bad: as noted on another review, the green "ready" light does not work. I even turned off all the lights to see if the light was on; it barely had a glimmer. Not a deal breaker for me though. The Ugly: the outside of the machine gets hot, really HOT. Of course, the handle is quite comfortable to use, but I wouldn't want children anywhere near it, much less allow them to use it.

I got this for $39.99 at costco.
It's ok, though the outside gets very, very hot. I was seriously thinking of returning it, even at 39.99. I don't feel like there's any real temperature control, you have to unplug it to turn it off, and because of the slant, any kind of melting cheese you put in ends up in a crusty puddle just south of your sandwich.
Maybe I need to get a book on how to construct paninis.
I don't love it.

The tg425xl is now discontinued, according to Breville's website. No wonder, given that the 'patented' adjuster knob has a tendency to lock up and never move again. if you go to the support section of Breville's website, and then to the support section for the t425xl, you'll see a strange interaction with no result, in which 3 other people (besides me and probably a lot more) asked how to get the thing fixed.

What's strange is that instead of trying to RMA or fix the problem, the support person says the people with the broken units should send closeup pictures of the knob. I suppose that he has a macro lens and assumes that customers have time for setting up good lighting, macro lenses, etc so that they can get a defective product diagnosed...

In my case, the cover is totally locked, and the knob can't be worked to unlock, or move at all. The product manual download on their website doesn't work, and the last person to request tech support (7 months ago) appears to have gotten no help.

Other than that, it's a fine product and Breville is a great company.

Great looking machine and makes fantastic paninis. No need to spend a fortune on them in cute bistros... well, sometimes that is also a treat and then you realize that your homemade ones are sooooo much better.
