After reviewing every slow cooker advertised on the internet I felt Gourmet Slow Cooker (5.3-qt.) by Breville was definitely the best. It was more expensive but well worth it. It turned out to be even better than I expected. A beautiful appliance to look at and top quality construction. The glass lid does not leak at all when cooking . I keep it on my kitchen counter at all times. I use my Breville at least five times a week. There are no hot spots. Everything cooks very evenly. The first day it came I cooked a whole chicken in it. It turned out wonderful. From that point on I knew this was the best choice. I was so impressed with the cord plug having a hole for fingers to easily plug in and remove. Wish more appliances would learn from Breville! Thank you for selling this superior product.

We replaced our older slow cooker with this one. I never suspected there would be such a drastic difference. Everything cooked very evenly. The meal was so perfect, I'm excited to use this slow cooker much more frequently than I did our old one.

Great design with top quality construction. After reviewing virtually every slow cooker out there and visiting various stores to inspect cookers in person, I decided to order the 5.3 quart oval Breville slow cooker sight unseen. It is the most beautifully made slow cooker I've seen. Quality brushed chrome on the outside, a deep brownish-black oval crock with easy-clean finish, and a tempered glass lid with a big easy-hold knob which does NOT topple into the pot. The crock liner has a couple of bumps along the edge which allow steam to be released, so there is no steam vent on top like other crock lids have. The metal inner walls of the pot heating unit itself are a smooth finish dark brown color with big rounded edges at the top (easy to wipe any spills off it) and not the bare, ugly, and easily stained aluminum like the other cookers. The outside of the cooker does get hot--but this is a "given" with crockpots with wrap-around heating elements, unfortunately. However, the heat doesn't seem excessive and the large side handles are designed with a protective shape so that if you do pick the whole thing up, you won't accidentally burn your fingers. There is an "on" light and the solid settings knob has 4 settings: off-warm-low-high. There are wrap around side heating elements for completely even heat. No heating coils on the bottom so no bottom burning! I thought at first the 5.3 quart size might be too large for us, but after making a lot of recipes in it, even several recipes designed for a 3 quart pot, I've decided it's a pretty useful size and appropriate for most recipes. There are no hot spots and everything cooks beautifully. There's a nice difference between the low and high setting, and the high is not too extreme. The cord has a special "easy remove" design plug, a nice touch. Overall, this is a lovely, well made, superbly functioning product and when they release their 3.5 quart smaller size cooker later this year I'll get that one too, just for really small recipes I like to make. This slow cooker is heads above every other cooker out there, not only based on the high quality and uniquely different construction, but also in the perfect way it cooks the food. The other brands of cookers don't look as well made as this lovely product. I'm in slow cooker heaven! Given Breville's lengthy and excellent reputation for electronic products (including rice cookers, coffee makers and many other items), I anticipate this cooker will last a good long time.

After using Rival crockpots for 20 years, I finally got fed up with them conking out after a couple years, and having too hot cooking temperatures, although I almost always cook on low (and had them filled properly, please). The last straw was a very lovely decorative Rival crockpot my husband bought for me. In about 5 1/2 hours,on low, it was boiling out of control. I contacted the company, told them I'd used crockpots for many years and the problem I was having, but was told that I probably was not using it properly. I then saw on Amazon other complaints about this same crockpot.
I saw the Breville on Amazon and read a positive review,(which has since disappeared), and bought it. The Breville is what a slow cooker should be like. On low, it will take it's time getting to a simmer, and then maintain that simmer, never getting to that wild boil that overcooked foods in my Rivals. Roasted chicken is done beautifully, stews are cooked perfectly. No hot spots.
If you're getting tired of too hot crockpots you really should try this one out. It's a pleasant change.

I bought this one after two disappointing Rival crock pots. I am so happy I spent the extra money for the Breville. Everything cooks evenly and perfectly. I even risked cooking a small rib roast in it... it turned out wonderfully. I would never have attempted in a Rival.

If you are in the market for a slow cooker - you cannot go wrong with this one.

I looked at several other makes and models of crock pots, but this had the features I was most interested in: a smaller capacity and simple design. The first feature reflects the limits of my kitchen space. The second one concerns my dislike for over-engineered kitchen products. I don't see any need for digital controls for something like this.

I am using it regularly now, about twice a week. The lid creates a tight seal and I like that it's glass, so I can check on progress. The temperature settings (warm, low and high) seem to run a bit hotter than I would expect, but I've adapted to that. The casing is sturdy and the crockery has an easy to clean glaze.

This slow cooker is great. It cooks evenly and is very well made.

The lowly crock pot - slow cooker goes to another level!!

We purchased the Breville SLC70XL just before the Holidays knowing that we would be giving it a good workout. For both function and appearance it exceeded our expectations!

I was a little bit hesitant about a slow cooker because of all the hype about them, but I decided to try one anyway. I made the right choice because I love it. I have made sauce, chicken, stew and they all came out delicious. Easy clean up....great product. Buy a good cookbook, and have fun.

This is excellent not to mention the free shipping and super fast delivery.
